Donnington, Trackday - 26th Feb

So which companies do trackday insurance?

Also do we need anything else other then a car full of petrol?

Ian, What car have you got now?

A helmet. Also trackdays put a lot of strain on the car such as brakes and tyres. Its also good to make sure the oil is right to the max and the car is in good condition mechanically.

I drive an Alfa 146ti (not the car in my sig unfortunatly :p)

Right I'm booked and paid for. Decided to go into the novice group for a laugh :D

Come to think about it - I've never driven donnington before so probably am a novice!

Its a really easy to track to learn, only takes a few laps with someone experienced sat next to you and you soon remember the breaking points, apex etc.
I need to get my trackday vid online, its about 15mb and I have hosting but its at home and I am at work. :( And at home I only have dial-up! :(

You'll probably need long sleeves and trousers. Also bring a box to put all the crap that you have in your car in to, or it'll fly about all over the place.

By the way, it's Donington :p

Just to give you guys an idea - Trackday insurance on mine (£17,500 declared value) is £162. That's body, chasis, engine and tranny covered, £1750 excess. Fire following an accident though is excluded so I'll ask how much extra that costs.

Going to try another couple of places to see if I can improve on that but it gives you an idea anway.

Where was that with? Can you do a small list for me so i can get some quotes?

What's the deal with this ?

Do you have to have anyone sitting in the car with you ? Can you just drive around the track on your own? Do you need insurance? Will there be loads of other cars at the same time ?

Saitrix - email this guy :-

[email protected]

Ask him for a quote form to fill out for "on event trackday insurance", he'll email it to you, fill it out, mail it back and you'll get a quote back pretty quick, mine took him 30 mins.

I would book right now, having a test in the next 2 months though which could lead to a 1 month off driving so I'll have to wait and see when my test is :(

Getting quote on the puma right now :) I would A. Have to book the weekend off and B. Have enough money to replace my brake pads :p

Its not that bad with B, as you have just replaced them you should have no problems at all with them wearing down. You will get high wear but they won't dissapear in a few laps :p

I am more worried about my tyres, the fact they are a bit dodgy (mid range) and the fact they will probably be bare as a babies arse by the end :D

Get some Fate-O's. They are brilliant in the dry and wet.

Brilliant at having 0grip that is.

Since bleeding the brakes on the weekend I have found it dead easy to lock up the wheels!

:( Fairy snuff, hope it goes ok.

Good news if it all pans out for you is that they told me today there's not been many bookings as yet - so plenty of space likely even for people paying on the door.

Would I be ok to come up there and spectate? I'd love to track my car but at the moment I'm only working part time (albeit with overtime most weeks) so I can't afford to shell out for new brake pads and track insurance...gotta be sensible.

Tis only up the A50 for me...so would be no problem getting up there.
