.... You are selling your car and the car all of a sudden decides to pull a few tricks on you. Things like wiper blades messing up, bulbs decide to blow and need replacing, someone scratches or damages you car and finally a blooming sensor decides to fail causing the EML to come on. I tell you it annoys me so much. Every car I have had and decided to sell does this to me. Drives me mad.
I'm in the process of selling my LEON as I have no need to drive a DERV (not doing the mileage) and now the coolant temp sensor decides to go. So annoyed  I bought the LEON thinking its German it wont cause me any troubles but so far Ive had to clean the turbo out twice cause it was full of junk (only once were the vains stuck the 2nd time was just out of preference to keep it running at peak), key fob decided not to work no more after the battery got changed and now the coolant temp sensor.

Has anyone else experienced this or is it just me?

Rank over.

My philosophy on cars is, they will go wrong. Its looks like you've come off pretty lightly compared to the plethora of things that can go wrong.

Yeah true but always seems to happen when I want to sell them. Really annoying. I'm hoping my next car won't break at all seem as I'm going back to Jap.

That's where you're going wrong. If you want reliability buy Japanese, German reliability is a myth. Modern cars are becoming so complex though it's no surprise that things go wrong as they get older.

I know. I had a Yaris as it worked all the time.

Cars break, wherever they're made.

I know cars break but Ive had to fix things that I thought were meant to be solid for a German car. Disappointed really. Dont think I will be buying German ever again.

Honestly you have had minor issues at most.....

Its still a pain because I now have to fix it before I sell the car. If it were something like a faulty heater or something I wouldnt have to sort it but seem as its a sensor and it brings up the EML I have to fix it asap.

When I sold my Primera GT, on the day of the sale I thought I would just move it off the drive for the buyer to see properly and I noticed the radio had stopped working. 5 and a half years of owning that radio and it dies on the day of the sale! Minor I know but still a tad annoying.

So basically, your annoyed you can't fob the car off to some unlucky fellow.

Not to some unlucky fellow. Some wewantanycar fellow. They'd probably not notice a minor fault but a nice orange light on the dash isnt hard to miss.

My 306 developed an Alarm fault the day I traded it in. The siren had packed up about 6 months before, so it sat there in the work car park not blaring away all day but flashing the lights. Got back to the car at lunchtime to go pick up the new one ... and the battery was completely dead. Luckily the RAC were there in 20 minutes.

A week before I traded my 306 in the one of the bonnet joints snapped. Got lucky as I knew a welder at the time and he joined it back up. would have been funny if someone opened the bonnet and one side just came off.

I think your confusing German reliability with diesel reliability. The problem of sticking vanes and general clogging up is not unique to any brand of diesel. Also, the temp sensor is around £30, and is normally very easy to replace.

Not rant worthy in the slightest.

Maybe they just really love you as an owner and don't want to be sold?
