When you sit indoors most of the afternoon waiting for a delivery that will bring sexy new hardware, you pop out for 5min and come back to find a 'Sorry You Were Out' Royal Mail note. Lord.

Ok, that's off my chest. Anyone got the Jesus pic?
 
I was told today that I'm not allowed to leave the house between 10am - 2pm as John Lewis were delivering something.

It got to about 20 to 2, and I thought I'd nip to the shop (only a 3/4 min walk) to get some munch as I was fed up of not having anything sweet to eat. Didn't think they were going to come to be honest, got back about 5 to 2.

Got back to the big van pulling off, insert me waving like a loon and getting them to come back.

We have a new tumble dryer :)
 
I always get "sorry you weren't in" cards, even if I'm in. They don't bring the packages with them.

I now see it as forced exerscise regime (walking to the depot).
 
I went to the shop which is literally 30m from my front door, got stuck talking with the proprietor for 3min, came back and the note was lying there :rolleyes:

I've had it before where the postie has put one of those cards through the door, Ive been at home and heard it so rush to the door to get my delivery, only to find out he left it back at the depot after all and I guess was hoping I was out.

Sneaky blighter.
 
Something similar happened to a mate of mine, except he was in at the time and saw the guy walking to his door. He pushed the slip through straight away without even knocking. To the delivery guy's surprise, my mate opened the door as he was doing it and he tried to get away by making some excuse up saying he had got the wrong package. Idiots.
 
I've had problems with deliveries that have caused me immense frustration - especially when you organise your whole day around making sure you are in for it.

One time, I waited all day for a delivery as well as tracking it online and it didn't come. Checked the tracker again in the evening to see if any there were updates for why it wasn't delivered and there was a brief note on the tracker page saying "person was out" - I pretty much kicked off about it to them the next day.

You lasted 3:40 out of 4hrs. What made you think it would be in your best interest to get some munchies?:confused: Good job on waving down the van though.
 
It winds me up no end when they do this. On one occassion the website said no one was home. My mum is a childminder and is at home all day and from our front room we can see all the way up the avenue. No van, no one came to the door, no nothing.

We kicked off to them the next day and got a half-arsed excuse about a mistaken entry and blah blah. Gits :mad:

Luckily for me the vast majority of deliveries arrive very early in the morning from CitiLink and DPD so usually no need to hang about all day like a bad smell :D

Our postie used to do this....that was until I wrote a letter to the PO that this was what our postie did....he got sacked :D
His response when challenged on the doorstep was...."I can't carry that much post about as it makes me late for my afternoon job"
 
Because if he did it would get delivered in a weeks time and the package will have been used as a football....that's if they don't lose it in the meantime

Of course they will redeliver. But that will take more time than me getting off my bottom and walking down there. It has happened more than twenty times - and I'm not alone in this building. We've had 7 postmen in 5 months.
 
Got a card through the door saying the stuff was too big to fit through the letter box today. Which is actually the truth. I'm waiting on a new router from OCuK. But when I first moved here I was awaiting my first package delivery and the posty came round and I opened the door expecting my delivery. She said she didn't have it and that the fella would be round in the van later. I didn't believe em, but considering I was using normal free postage I didn't kick up a fuss and went back to my computer. About an hour later the postvan pulled up outside and my item was delivered. I told him I hadn't been expecting him to turn up and he said that anything that isn't letter box sized will be delivered by the van, so the ones on foot don't have to lug stuff around. So far it's been the case, standard mail and junk will be delivered by the woman who's got our walk and then any packages I have ordered will arrive by van later. Great service.

On the flipside, I've had the ****s at ****ty link not turn up for deliveries despite the website tracking claiming it was out and on route. Granted I'm up the North coast, but I think they decide it'll take them an hour to drive back to Belfast, so take that extra hour to clock off and **** off back home.
