what do you guys think?
I think it looks good but saying it overshadows Rage abit too far since doom 3 is corridor shooter.

was playing doom 3 with sikkmod and hi res texture pack not long ago and with the tweaks it is still very good

And when people start modding Rage it'll look better still.

It's a silly comparisson to make, Cinematic mod looks better than Portal 2. Modded Morrowind can look better than Oblivion. The modding community will always produce great looking results given enough time.

I've recently played the Sikkmod and also the Perfected mod, which I found better than the former. When I do play Rage I will naturally make a comparison, though I don't believe I will see Rage as inferior to the Doom 3 mods that are available.

I played Doom 3 again a few weeks back, and still think it looks fantastic. The texture resolutions are a bit low by today's standards, but the lighting and shadows still put a lot of today's games to shame.

Having higher resoluted shadows and higher resoluted textures really don't make a game look entirely better.

Doom 3 is a pretty tunnel that you traverse, almost akin to a dungeon crawler. There is a lot less geometry, characters, lighting and environments in Doom3 to say it overshadows Rage is just silly.

It has higher res textures in a mod... that's about it. Rage has 16k textures... which is rare because you need at least 3GB V-RAM.

I think the mod looks good but what's with the ass-retarded depth of field "effects" going on in some of them? if DoF is going to be used it should be used properly. Being an SLR user it just looks so fake and wrong I don't even want to try it even though I do want to check the mod out!

wooo, guna have to break out my old doom 3 disk again just for this.
*rummages through my 4 draws full of pc disk's*..

I love the game, always have, always will. I have completed it numerous times. Never gets boring...

I dont think Rage will look better...

I agreed with this (taken from that link

"Doom 3 can look miles better with some implementation of current graphical mods. In the end a “new engine” is basicly a massive update on the previous, rage and crysis 2 are more of a step back for console optimization not better or “new”"

I think until we see the PS4 and Xbox 720 or something, games will look no better on PC
