Doom 3 modded overshadows iD Software’s RAGE – New drooling screenshots

What mods are used in those screenshots does anyone know?

Look very much like either the Sikkmod (I think most likely this one), Synergy or Perfected mod. I found the first two mods gave a bigger frame rate hit, and they don't imo look any better than the Perfected mod anyway. The graphical option tweaks in the mods, and there are many, are streamlined and helpfully simplified with the Perfected mod, and iirc somewhat clearer also with Synergy in comparison with the Sikkmod as well.

Another mod (demo by the looks of it) here and some information about another. I'll have to give these a go sometime.

Carmack did mention it also iirc.

Yes, during one of his Q&A videos, he pointed out that when making Rage, they recognised that they were making a game that probably couldn't be modded by very many people, and agonised over it, but in the end went ahead with it because it was a consequence of the engine they were designing.

There's also a program called Desura which makes the installation of some mods even easier, ideal for quickness.

I recommend the 'Perfected' mod. I've tried the Sikk mod and the Project Synergy mod, but Perfected was better imo.
Doesn't Perfected have a lot of gameplay modifications? Is there a way to use it for its graphical tweaks, but keep standard Doom 3 gameplay?

I don't remember it changing much in gameplay, only things that I noted as a positive difference such as the enemies not disappearing after dying, having another light aside from the torch etc. Certainly nothing I found that unbalanced the game. They are mods that you will want to tweak a bit before properly starting a campaign, what to leave in, what not to.

The graphical options were a little less overwhelming than Sikk but I think that was one of the benefits, more streamlined, better arranged but at the same time left nothing out (hence the mod name 'Perfected'), and the results were just as good without as much as a frame rate hit. Even when the frames dropped while using the Perfected mod it felt smoother to me, and I preferred the graphics to the other two mods, no bugs for a kick off. All in all I found it to be a more complete, finished product.
