doom 3 problem

hey guys got doom3 in the steam sale and i am having a weird problem.

when i get hit and the red stuff appears on my screen the game kinda pauses and stutters but only when i get hit, the game is total smooth at all other times.

any ideas what could be causing it?

I do not know what is causing it but i believe you cant turn off that particular effect by changing in the DoomConfig.cfg:
seta g_doubleVision "1"
to
seta g_doubleVision "0"

Which should disable that effect.

DoomConfig.cfg is in the main doom3 directory.

It may help if you cannot find a why to solve it any other way.

thanks guys im running it on ultra with 4xaa and edited the config for 1920x1200 res.

ill try disabling that effect cheers

Does it happen at all times, or only when your health is low? doom 3 does have an injury effect, where your recation speed drops, screen gets blurry, etc., when you are hurt.

Try running it on High and see if the problem still occurs. IIRC Doom 3 Ultra settings eats up frame buffer like crazy.

ill give it a try though when i have the effect enabled its like the game pauses when im hit, pretty weird tbh considering my rig and my cards the 1 gig version.

works fine smooth all the time with the effect disabled.

cheers for the help guys ill keep trying stuff but can at least play smoothly with that effect turned off with out the game pausing for a second or 2 when im hit

I got this as well and it runs like a bag of crap.

Were the graphics really that poor only a few years ago?

Maxed everything out as well.

Just wondering if it the fact that I cannot set to my resolution (1920x1080).

for that res you gotta mess in the config file with notepad just type doom 3 widescreen res into google

i remember running a 5900xt 768 ram and a sempron 2800 or athlon xp 1800 when it came out and i managed high settings lol though on 1024x768 res
