I have never really played it so i am now.

Im having issues with the game though.

It randomly locks up and freezes, it can lock up badly enough that i have to hit reset button? its ******* me off so much.

I am using 180.80 beta drivers.

I have tried to none beta drivers and its the same.

Some times the sound loops when it freezes also.

Can anybody help me with this?

what hardware, and how overclocked?

no problems in other games?

why write like this?

read the FAQ, remove the sweary.

Reading your other posts, it appears there's not many driver sets your 8800gt is stable with.. have you checked what temp it's reaching? Could well be full of dust and overheating.

My card is not overheating.

Sometimes i felt i should have just stuck with the PS3, pc just present problems.

I have not overclocking on.

I do have rivatuner though, the only thing i have adjusted is fan control to 45%

Card is very new it has hardly any dust in it.

PSU is 600 watt coolermaster.

Game fully patched.

a lot of games ive had few issues with before i reinstalled windows xp.

Neverwinter nights 2 seems to run fine.

Oblivion ran ok barring my system struggling to run it in certain places, i did however get wierd looking faces come up when running oblivion.

Try setting your fan to 100% for a while to test. If you don't have problems, 45% is obviously your issue.

I would recommend going back to your PS3 if you're finding PCs too hard to deal with. If you're not willing to learn about what you're doing before trying stuff you're only going to have problems when playing with overclocking, undervolting fans and beta drivers (looking at your post history).

Ive been pc gaming for a number of years it was only recently i decided to buy and get back into i do not see how you think setting fan control to 45 would cause a problem when its given more air.

And my fan was not undervolted it was set to 33% default.

So you don't think that 45 is less than 100?

Damn, it's been a while since I studied maths but I was certain that 100 is the bigger number :(

Now you putting words into my mouth did i just state to you that my fan speed was set to 33% default and that i put it up.

And if you had read a comment from a previous poster you would have notice ive had problems with drivers which is why i am using the beta drivers.

It doesn't really matter what the default fan speed is. I asked you to test to see if 100% fan helps as your issue sounds like it may be to do with overheating.

If it does help then you know you need to cool down your graphics card more. If it doesn't help then it's likely that an overheating graphics card isn't the issue and we can move onto other tests to identify the problem/a solution.

Ok i will try put it on to 100% and run the game.

Just tried that and same issue.

I check rivatuner and it states the core temp is at 43.

When i run ati tool to test for artifacts it was inbetween 55 to 60

Sounds good.

If you can, run something that will log your graphics card temperature to a text file (rivatuner may have an option for this but i've not used it in a while so I'm not sure). It would be useful to be able to see it in the event of a crash.

Also, have you ran memtest and Orthos to make sure your cpu/ram are stable?

I ran memtest for about half an hour and things seems fine, i will run orthos though.

I am not sure were to find the log.

Before i reinstalled windows xp i had bad problems with games.

games became blocky, like the cursor and menu windows.

Fear just turned into a blocky mess and then the pc became unstable.

Since reinstalling ive had that problem once with neverwinter nights 2 i went back to the driver which came with the cd, i will check it now.

Ok mate i run it for a few.

So ive letting that run, and i have running OCCT, i do not get orthos it seems complicated.

My cpu is not overclocked or anything.

i do not get orthos it seems complicated.

how so? Press Stress Test, and then wait to see if it falls over with an error or not.

Being that it's designed for only one thing, has only 3 menu choices, and flashes when something's wrong.. the number of choices I have when replying to this message makes this forum more complicated!

tbh, after googling OCCT, it seems to do pretty much the same job as prime/orthos.

It's just that Prime, and derivatives like Orthos, are pretty much the standard for stability testing, so it's good to know that your machine's prime stable :)
