Doom to use async compute

Devs would be stupid not to use Async when a large proportion of sales are from the console market. As more games show the gains that can be achieved, no doubt it will become standard practice in all game development.

In that beta demo the Fury is about 20% ahead of the 980ti at 1440P, that's frightening.

A possible problem is like we've seen with ROTTR it can also be replaced before reaching PC. That needs to stop.

Typically if it's present on the consoles, then it should be present in most PC ports too. There will be exceptions where it's not wanted (for obvious reasons) but this should not be the norm.

Is funny. Async compute provides great benefits.
However because Nvidia is caught with they pants down "is frightening" the use of it.

There been no beta's yet, two alphas. The beta is not until the end of the month. It ran faultless for me as well never dropped a frame at 980ti but I was running a 980ti. Judging the performance of a game from a Alpha is iffy at best.

Is that the official AMD view, or will we be seeing another deleted post and frantic back tracking.

Here is what the developer has to say:

The only games using Async Compute on the PC that have been released so far to the best of my knowledge are, Ashes and Hitman.

Even with the DX12 patch I doubt AC was included since the game actually loses frames compared to DX11 in most cases according to the built in benchmark anyway. If the Xbox version does use it then it's quite clear that the deal with Nvidia eliminated it from the PC version.

The ROTTR devs may not have wanted to do that but we all know how Square Enix operates and would do anything for cash. If AC is included then it is the only game so far that sees a negative effect.

The developer is saying that the Xbone version is also using AS, if it was Xbone only then they would not have used the word also. So are you stating that the developer is wrong and that it has been removed.

After checking, It's used on both console and on the PC.

More clear than the words of the developer stating that they use it.

Such as hobble Hitman so that a 390X beats a 980ti in DX11. ;)

Developers love Asynchronus Compute that is present on all GCN graphics cards. We've not seen its full performance capability yet.

Matt, I heard that Hitman uses async, yet AMD cards see nearly zero performance uplift going from dx11 to dx12 :) what's going on there?
