Its certainly not Vulkan, AMD don't even have release drivers yet.
I am sad that Doom isn't pushing graphics anymore, it looks like Rage and has lame "press x to win" canned animations. I don't care what new features it's using if it looks like a 5 year old game. The 60fps limit that goes Benny Hill when unlocked is also ridiculous, why is that still there. All evidence points to it being a token engine upgrade.
They do lol if it's not Vulkan what other API does Async compute support? Because far has I knew ID tech engine is OpenGL.

Vulkan API support came in driver 16.3

thats BS, they spinoff something to make you think that the only way to go from now on is win10, but if you spend 5 minutes thinking about it you will find that it's BS, lets see their options.
only windows 10, is it going to be a life long OS ? ofc not, so at some point they will introduce something new to charge you for it, what's the difference if it's called win11 or win10.7 ? the fundamentals will remain, a new version holding gaming hostage with DX12.5/13/15, forcing you to move to it whil denying for the soon to be replaced win10, so in reality NOTHING changed from the last decade, but the wording they present it to you with.
whatelse can they do ? DLC kinda thing? maybe, then ppl will have to buy original OS + the DLC, thing that wouldnt work for more than 1 DLC, because accumulating DLCs+OS will not sit right with ppl who need to get 2-3dlc, so the most likely outcome, win10 will be free, and only charged dlc, and even then, they cannot accumualte much and will only pay for the last DLC, and early adopters will feel screwed.
feel free to correct me if im wrong.
The only difference is because amd is yet to release a WHQL driver with Vulkan API once they do that will be the driver to be certified.
Its got nothing to do with WHQL certification, they didn't yet have a driver that passed the Vulkan certification. That will liekly change soon but Vulkan is far too immature for an immanent game release.
Doom likely uses DX12, it does on the xbox for starters.

Has the engine ever supported DirectX? Far has I know all games have been OpenGL.
Where can I read this Vulkan certification? All I see is they released version 1.0 and amd driver meets this release.
And your point of all this is?
"Oh and BTW My Gfx Card has a driver that your Gfx Card doesnt...nah, nah, na, nah, nah"
Come on grow up DP!!

Any more trolling and I will report you.
FYI: I have an AMD 6970M in an Imac and apple wont support Vulka, so no, yet again you re hilariously wrong. Utterly pathetic.![]()
Nvidia/AMD should make an OS, that'd be a right laff...
No need. They should just encourage developers to programme for other API's besides DirectX. If the majority of trple a games supported Valkcun linux or steamOS they would be viable operating systems.
Nvidia already have good Vulkan resources out for developers:
https://developer.nvidia.com/Vulkan
And they have a long history of supporting OpenGL.
In the end it goes down to gamers. Developers merely release on the platform gamers most liekly use - windows. If the gamers just put their middle finger up at Microsoft and moved to linux or OSX then the developers will quickly and seamlessly follow.
