DOOM Vulkan mode?

I just installed my new RX 580 Nitro+ with latest drivers etc but when I load doom and enable Vulkan mode it restarts and then wont launch. I get a box coming up about reporting an error.

I know I can edit the doomconfig.local to revert it back to opengl but I thought my card supports vulkan.

All help appreciated..

Yes freshly installed last night from website. Adrenalin 18.3.4.

My 480 Nitro+ runs it fine. Tried an earlier driver?

i think Doom's only on Steam so if that's right and yours is get Steam to scan the files and rule out any files being missing, This is always one of my first tasks as I use Norton Internet security which sometimes deletes files from my Steam games for no good reason.
At least then that's the game ruled out as being the problem.

As for Vulcan it has no limitations that I know of unlike as an example DX12 that needs to be used with Win 10, At least there's none that I know of. Have you got any other Vulcan games to test?

In case you don't know how to verify the integrity of the Steam game files:
Right click on the games name in the left side scroll window of Steam & pick Properties which is at the bottom of the options, then pick Local Files & then pick the Verify Integrity of Game Files option, Being a big install it may take it 5 or so minutes to do that but once it's done you've ruled out one possibility.

that is a good shout actually. i spent ages trying to get the bureau loaded a few days back it just gave me spinning loading wheel then nothing..... in the end i checked integrity, it down loaded 17mb of data and has been fine since.
