DOOM3 - Windows 7

Anyone got DOOM 3 to work with windows 7? , when i load it up i get annoying out of sync waves going down the screen. Also everytime i set widescreen and restart the game it goes back to 640x. I tried autoexec.cfg and setting that to widescreen but it still starts up as a really low res!

Can you right click then select properties and make it start up in windows XP mode or something?

Have you tried the nvidia beta drivers through windows update and the latest official nvidia drivers ?

There will be some problems with applications, battlefield 2142 doesn't play online due to punkbuster being incompatible with windows 7.

Yep i'm using the latest nvidia drivers now...

That person was using

ASUS G2 Notebook with 8600M GT (256MB) using the ForceWare 167.61

Tried the Vista x64 179.28 Drivers from the nvidia site with same results. Horrid flickering which looks like some sort of buffering/redraw issue

and he had the same problem

Try installing the latest direct x.

My Steam version is working fine here on a 8800GT using the latest drivers.

Custom res is set in the DoomConfig.cfg rather than autoexec..
seta r_customHeight "900"
seta r_customWidth "1440"
seta r_fullscreen "1"
seta r_mode "-1"

I uninstalled the 181.20 drivers and tried 185.20(?) loaded up the game and still its flickering horribly ! , i uninstalled the 185.20 and went via windows update. It said nvidia drivers so i used them for windows 7 , Doom 3 loads up with NO flickering problems. However windows 7 driver is OLD release 179.*

Also with the Win 7 driver scaling with nvidia isn't working i can only use it via my display , but with other drivers i can.

Damn it can't win either way lol

Damn... I'm getting the flickering as well. Don't understand this at all, looks like a refresh rate problem maybe? I don't know, grasping at straws here. I guess I can try more drivers, hell The regular W7 ATi driver doesn't even have openGL in it at all! I had to force it to install the Vista 64 8.12 driver.

I've been trying to get Doom 3 working for a good long time now and I give up. It does work in windowed mode perfectly fine but it's a flickery mess in fullscreen. I've tried more drivers, cp settings, all the different commands in the doom 3 config.... no luck. Oh well, windowed is dood enough I guess till a fix is found. Loves me some Doom 3 at max CP IQ settings and all the tweaks to make it look better .

Did you try to reinstal drivers? I saw issues on WIn 7 with Red Alert, but disappeard after drivers reinstallation..
