Door problem

My door appears to have exploded and is now leaking sticky like glue all over the frame. Less than 6 months old so don't know if this is normal or a fault. Bought them from jewsons so anyone any clue as to why it did this. Click for bigger pic.

Real wood or laminate? Looks like sap to me.

Normally made with wood with a heavy sap content, don't mean to sound rude but was it a cheaper door compared to others?

It should clean off fairly easily with white spirit. I'd just remove as much as possible and then fill the holes. You might still get a bit bleed through, but not as bad as that once the bulk has been removed.

I'm guessing that the knots weren't sealed before being painted over

OP, quite normal for a "cheaper" softwood framed door. Just clean it up.

Ahh pine - it's sap and it's normal pin behaviour. If it's dried longer and then sealed it shouldn't do that.

I've just been researching wood for the garage projects.
