What is this exact defect called?

Noticed this on my screen but I'm not sure if it's worth the hassle to RMA it.

Looks like a dead pixel to me, being black.

Yes it would appear so. That would annoy the hell out of me and I'd RMA if I had the chance, assuming your monitor doesn't have a policy where it allows multiples of these before an RMA will be accepted... which would be a pain. In my experience, when I've had one of these, I've had others over time.
