Think I've played around 80 games, probably 40 in the past week or so :p

wow thats a lot of games haha....i have only played 2 :D i think it is good cos the heroes are totaly different and you get a good choice from them. i think the only downfall is trying to find out what is best for you, there is so much choice lol. :p

If you go on playdota.com and get brief guides up for every hero I'd do that and just hit the random button and read the guide quickly (1minute of picking phase+1 minute of getting to lane). Is what I'd do as it is the quickest way to learn what every hero can do (the most important thing I found at the start of the game so you know your limits a bit better on what you're up against).

Also you get a bonus amount of gold, it is what I'm doing at the moment to get used to the switch over from HoN, especially as last hitting is very different due to animations.

Well I had a few games with kamwah last night, didn't do too bad mind but still lost. I was natures Prophet lol trapped myself in my trees one, that didn't end well but still did ok with him. Gonna try out queen of pain tonight I think lol.

Dru I think you will enjoy it more if you play with me nd kamwah we had a right laugh last night.

yeh i played egnigma last night fort he was ok....it is taking me a while to get used to the shop i think that is goin to take me a while to get used to but once i have marstered that i think i will manage the game well. i am going to sort my steam account out tonight so i can have ago more instead of taking over my brothers pc haha :D

Both of these heroes you want to start off jungling. The benefit of this is that your team will get solo experience on an extra lane and that can really boost your team if they are competent players. Obviously you don't want two jungling though.

Natures prophet is the best, jungle about and use your tp to jump into battles and turn the tides and tp back out to go farm or push a tower. You can push one side of the map and then tp to the other side when the enemies come to gank you. I tend to get a lot of abuse from the other team for being impossible to catch when I play natures prophet.

I'd love to know the number of games won/lost based on wards, it is staggering how the supports in pub don't realise how important they are, even just rune control is pretty important.

I've tried playing AA a few times so that I can take the support role and do it right but I've come to the conclusion that he is a brilliant hero when played with good team support, not found in pubs. Might start taking CM.

I played with Kamwah yesterday too. First game the other team had 2 disconnects so we left. Then we was doing ok, then suddenly Kamwah disappeared. I waited for a while but things got a bit hard and I realised Kam not coming back so I left. Waited a while longer then had to go myself.

But for the short time we did play it was fun. Can't remember which hero Kam had, but when we was in same lane he took most of the last kills. Was particularly hard to get last hits with ursa. But I enjoyed playing with ursa. The claw is nice to chomp down an hero quickly. Hero's like razor don't have a special that does that much damage. Razor's one might do more damage overall by area, but ursa concentrates to one target and does more damage to it enabling one to get more kills easily :)

Take ursa to the jungle and level up some and you will do significantly better and won't be competing for last hits. Two carrys should never be on the same lane, competing for last hits loses the game.

The jungle is the area where you pull those stronger grunts into the lane and kill them right? Or maybe even not to pull them and just kill them. From my experience, they get stronger with every phase. I mean instead of going to a lane, if you go kill them, then go to a lane for a while then go kill them again and wait for respawn and repeat, is this best way to level?

Do those 3 grunts kills give you lots of xp? I know their gold is very similar. 40-50 gold for the two small ones and 100ish gold for the big one.

Thanks for advice btw. I liked ursa, so want to know the best way and quickest way to level him up so by mid game I can easily get kills.

The guy I saw playing ursa was level 21 the next highest was 15, the rest 10-12. I was like wow. Obviously he had more experience than most or better player, but still, there is obviously a way. How do you go about watching a replay?

Well there are different tactics and not being an ursa player the specific one for him you will likely find online. For example with enigma and natures prophet you can summon creeps to fight for you so you do that in the jungle and can farm all day. Some heroes you will drag them down into the creep lane but you must be careful when doing this because it will mean that the enemy will be able to push your tower easily. So generally this would be done when you have a strong side lane hero who can prevent this and as a result you will steal xp and gold from your enemy. Though at the start of the game this wouldn't really be a problem I suppose and if you had a side lane windrunner this would work quite well.

This tactic is also used to "double up" a lane wave so that you can push a tower easier.

Ursa is actually one of the best junglers in the game and generally I think players will get an early vlad IF jungling with him as it will effectively allow you to tank Roshan by your self. Doing this in pub games where people aren't going "Where is Ursa?" Will allow you to rake in the gold for your team and net you some good xp. Ursa tends to come out for ganks during the night as I'm sure you've already witnessed and can be pretty devastating if he's jungled him self up nicely.

:EDIT:

You want to learn the spawn points of the low/med/high jungle creeps. You can probably find a picture of it online.

I am going to try this guide and build order. Seems decent. Better than what I would do without it.

Once I get a build order down it will help a lot I think :)

Thanks again for your advice.

Looks good, I would suggest a BKB before ageis as personal taste. I would prefer to block incoming spells and stuns rather than silence a single person.

:EDIT:

^ Confusing ageis with Orchid Malevolence like a noob.

Silence?

It's the ageis of immortality, which ursa should get ASAP every game as he is one of the few characters that can solo roshan with ease :)

Like Tom says, as soon as you have vlads you should be heading straight to Roshan. I would normally get vlads, kill roshan, use the gold to buy boots and the level to take a point in Q. Then its gank time!

:EDIT:

Being a noob. I was thinking of that staff that gives you a silence. Thought it pretty odd to have on ursa early. The Orchid Malevolence.

well i now have my own account instead of pinchin clartys account haha... me clart and kamwah all played last night for a game it was good since 2 of the team DC and left so it was just left to the 3 of use. mind u we put up a fight like but they all maxed out in level so we didnt have a chance. i think its goin to be a learning curve for me but i really enjoyed it. there is still some OP heroes like they will kill u almost instently but still overall good game :D

3v5 is not a nice matchup. Though I have found that my team tends to work better when you know you're going to lose because of a DC.

As for OP heroes. I would actually say that there aren't OP heroes as such as teams that don't deal with them correctly. For example:

Other team picks anti mage - Your team should pick heroes with pure damage so his spell shield cannot stop the damage and with decent stuns. Take beast master, very hard counter to anti mage. 5 second stun (??) that goes through a BKB. Enchantress's massive damage imps also go through BKB and anti mages shield. Furthermore, you harass him and don't let him farm and aim to end the game before 40min.

Other team picks invoker - Keep him ganked and deny his lane so he gets under farmed and under leveled. He won't be much use to them then.

They pick Enigma - You counter with VS, she is pretty much the counter to Enigma.

They pick chen - You pick prophet/enchantress/brood.

They pick riki/bounty-hunter/invis char etc - You use sentry wards and dust and if you aren't dieing too much you get a gem of true sight on a tanky character or an invis one. That way you will be able to walk around pretending you don't know riki is there and then gank him when he least expects it.

Most importantly for any carry on the other team is to not let them feed and secondly not let them kill your carry. If you are playing pudge/VS etc and you see your carry about to die you pull him out of danger and sacrifice your self because your carry is always the most important player to protect on your team. Sadly in pub games you tend to have 3 carrys on your team so this doesn't really apply.

Simply put, the heroes are OP because the team doesn't deal with them accordingly.

yeh i see where ya coming from now. i was watchin a match with anti mage on and he owned the other team lol i am new and just learning but that has taught me a little about team balance :D...it just reminded me of LOL whn people picked YI and ya didnt have a chance lol. fingers crossed i will be on DOTA tonight im looking forward to it now where as b4 i was undecided haha :P

AM is one of those heroes who can be devastating late game but he is pretty much useless for the first 30-40minutes and that gives your team a 4v5 advantage that you must use to push the enemy towers. AM can't farm if you're at his barracks. It is crucial for him to get a lane where he can just sit and farm and then get a battle fury and vangard and go farm neutral creeps. Once he gets to the farming neutral creeps stage you are starting to get in trouble.

There is a lot to learn in DOTA, just gotta keep at it.

Just played again now, that is 4 games and 4 wins with Ursa using that guide. Much more my style compared to Razor. Managed to get 5 kills and only 1 death. Well 3 deaths, but two don't count as I slayed Roshan and got the thingy that gives you a license to go crazy. Might as well use it, as if you don't, correct me if I am wrong, you lose it when roshan re-spawns after 10 minutes?

In a pub game ursa will generally win you the game if left unchecked. In a way he's sort of OP to the pub mentality, but not an OP hero as such. When I started dota 2 I started with razor as well, he's certainly a good hero to start with I think and you are correct, the ageis is lost when roshan respawns.

Now that you've got ursa down a bit better you might want to try aiming to gank specific heroes on the other team a lot more and get your kills up. You will steam roll ahead then with xp. Aiming for heroes like drow/CM/VS/AA etc. The squishy ones. You'll want a BKB to prevent being stunned and you can pretty much freefarm the enemy team if they aren't working together.

I would suggest not relying on ursa as your hero of choice though as in higher levels of play you will find his OPness starting to dwindle. He is generally frowned upon at higher levels because, generally speaking, he is very popular in low level games because the skill level is too low to deal with him.

What I love about ursa is that you can have riki pop up behind you, get you down to low life and just turn around and maul his face off and life steal more damage than you are being dealt.

If anyone comes across a sapre key for this and fancies sending it my way it would be appreciated :)

Keen to try this after playing so much HON for the last couple of years.
