Yeah you did say the pen mustn't leave the page, the page being defined in this case as the working area of the picture.

'without leaving the page' was there to indicate all the lines must be connected, not that it must be within the limits of the picture, and you know it

My (incorrect) solution involved drawing a line around the back of a piece of the piece of paper - it's a pretty deceptive question in the OP, but still, good riddle / thing
