Double NAT on Virgin Media routers / alternative to 'Modem Mode'

Can you explain your setup?
I've just started using a managed switch (model TL-SG105E), and the Hub5X.

I had to use TPLink's Easy Smart Configuration Utility after resetting the device to factory defaults, because it would not assign an IP address via DHCP to the switch. But it was effortless from that point on. By default, I think the IP address is the same as the Hub5x IP...

I will probably move the TL-SG105E (switch 1) next to the Hub5X router and have 1 port (capped egress) connected to a unmanaged switch (switch 2), with all LAN traffic running from switch 2.

The only downside is that the HUB5X WIFI can still use the upload uncapped, but I doubt this will be much of an issue.

The way I have it setup at the moment, I think means that if multiple ports on the managed switch use more than 35mbps of upload bandwidth at the same time, they could exceed the max upload bandwidth of 40mbps.

Yikes, 40mbit upload on fibre, I didn't realise they'd do that - I suppose it's to keep their product offerings the same as what's on coaxial.

The high latency on saturated upload I suppose is just bufferbloat, you can cap your bandwidth as you have or run some kind of QoS on your router.
You have to pay extra for symmetrical upload on Virgin Fibre.
