Double oven & Induction hob recommendations

I'd love a gas hob, but there's no pipe. It wouldn't be too difficult to fit one, but the wife likes induction.

Our Samsung under-worktop oven has a divider so you can have two seperate temps and we use it all the time. Often just run the top part, so not having to heat the whole oven space.

I've gone with the AEG one from JL. It dropped in price which was a sign!

I ended up buying their 5yr warranty though. Which is against my usual advice to myself. But it made it very similar in price to the 5yr warrantied IKEA hob.

Do you think the AEG hob will depreciate less than the IKEA?

We're looking for a new oven to replace the cheap Hotpoint one the builders put in. It has a few issues which admittedly could be fixed easily but we'd rather just replace it. I've also got a decent sum of John Lewis vouchers (£1900) help fund it.

We'd love a slide and hide, but the only in-stock Pyrolytic ovens on JL don't seem to have it. Would it be a lotth of work to replace it with a single and matching grille/microwave?

Edited to say that the oven recess doesn't seem to be big enough for a single and separate microwave, plus, we do use the top oven often. Well, want to use it often but it's terrible on the Hotpoint. I did spot the AEG with the top fan oven however it doesn't have Pyrolytic so I think we'll go for the Neff N50 double oven and fingers crossed with it being a Neff the top oven will actually be useful.

not sure I really see the usability improvement with these (even if they are on bake off?)
sometimes when getting heavy stuff, full casserole, out/in it is useful to rest it on door, and if you did drop it door rather than legs would be burned.
takes longer to open&close those doors so you loose more heat - just nudge the oven door with your hip/leg to close it.
not sure I'd want a main oven at eye-level height, either, from a safety pov
so - form over function for me.

They look cool and make it easier to get large dishes out, as the door isn't in the way so with a telescopic rail like most expensive ovens have now it makes it easier. I guess it’s not as useful on a double as the door itself is smaller than on a single.

Wouldn’t the oven also be physically smaller to allow for the door to slide underneath? That may hinder you being about to get 3 racks in should you ever need to.

I put the new kitchen in October ish last year, we went with a Neff N70 Slide & Hide Oven (with Pyrolitc Cleaning which is excellent!) and the matching N70 induction hob.

Hob is brilliant, and so is the oven. Both super quick to heat up and easy to clean. I hate gas hobs for cleaning! Absolute PITA.

I'd happily go Neff again.

if I was buying a new oven now would probably take some pans along to check sizing - because often find that with casserole, or bain-marie situation the bottom shelf has to be on base of oven, to allow enough space above that, and single shelf, with other stuff, above.

yes - a regular oven door could get in the way , but at chest level I still think safely getting a 4-5Kg pan out of the oven sounds precarious, especially if you have to change your grip once it is out.
