Double yellow lines question

I have picked them up on it and they claim that they ARE exempt although I haven't yet managed to check

Just apply a bit of common sense ffs. If that really was a get-out clause, every bugger would be doing it.

By way of revenge: If they're parking their van on the double yellows, I'd be taking photos and posting up on twitter to ask "why are you parking illegally". They're not exempt from the same rules.

Hate people parking on pavements, since I use to have to push my daughter's buggy into the road to avoid these selfish people. It's funny how touching a pavement in a driving test is a fail, yet people think they can stick their whole car on one.

Yeah ... they'll cite some regulation or other  If they're driving round looking for illegal parking and spot someone, then its sensible to allow them to stop there temporarily to issue the ticket, but parking up on double yellows and going off on foot to patrol an area is in the "one law for them and one for the rest of us" category.

during the summer it was chaos with visitors to low farce and hgih force waterfalls with people parking on the verges so th council put double yellow lines on the road and tickected every car parked on the verge. Thats when i discovered the double yellow lines covers the verge/pavement as well.

This was my understanding too. They can park on a double yellow to issue a ticket to an offending vehicle, but they can't "park" there to patrol an area.
