double yellow lines

The only way you get away with parking on double yellows is if you are delivering, if a Warden is stupid enough to ticket you for this you will only get off it if the time on your POD is spot on.

Blue badge holders can park on double yellows as well.

I wish someone could actually clarify this.

The police are far too busy dealing with real crimes like a footballer shouting at another footballer than to be bothered about a car parked on a pavement.

It would be nice to know the actual legal status of this argument, rather than a lot of heresay!

Actually I don't think they do, you shouldn't get fined for parking on double yellows, because you haven't parked on the lines themselves, what you will get fined for is obstructing the pavement

Technically, a road is defined as everything from verge to verge, including the pavement.

Often see vans mounted on the pavement of crossroads for our local shops. Very annoying, especially when you have to wait behind or walk in single file to get past.

You do not need a legal status.

Parking on the pavement is retarded, do not do it.

Simple.

No one should be concerned whether is "retarded" or not.

This is not what the OP asked.

The best conclusion to the thread would be someone posting something factual about the OP's situation, rather than just taking the **** out of him.

The latter is much more fun, though.

Guess what Einstein, a lot of vehicles use mineral oil for the braking system instead of the traditional brake fluid.

You do know I was joking about an earlier thread right?

but while your on the topic, dont you think checking what type of fluid a vehicle uses would be the first port of call?

Moot.

Whatever the ACTUAL status of this is fully expect to be penalised for parking on the pavement. Arguing a technicality is one thing, doing so on the foundation of a retarded act is a foolish endeavour.
