Yep you'll almost certainly have to seek out drivers for XP.
Several points to consider here:
1) If it's a Vista Business license she has, you can get a downgrade to XP for free, otherwise you need to buy an XP license
2) If you're changing OS, ensure drivers are available for the new OS
3) If drivers are an issue, or if she's not averse to change, consider going to Windows 7 - it's a genuine step forward and I'm happily using the RC as my main OS on my machines now.
one point to take in is if its a new dell model you may have issues getting XP drivers, its just a thought, but at work we brought some new workstations for a school and had to go to a 3rd party dodgy driver site to resolve the driver issues.. just a thought
upgrading from Vista to XP can be a bit of a pain, you're probably best formatting and starting from scratch.
I'm one of those cool kids that thinks it's cool to say Vista to XP is an 'upgrade'Was that a genuine typo or are you one of those cool kids that thinks it's cool to say Vista to XP is an 'upgrade'?
I bet its all the DELL Bloatware that comes with the PC,I know when I removed the Mcafee stuff and other bloated freebies from my Dell laptop that they throw in , Vista now runs real smooth even better then XP.
Sad Vista still gets blame for lot of stuff, infact I have no trouble getting Vista to run great on virtually any modern PC,guess I know what I'm doing.
To be fair, I call it an upgrade when I go from getting a BSoD every day (litterally) to once a month max, when going from roughly 1000fps to 1500fps in a DX9 app I made, in taking less than 60 seconds to boot and less than 30 to shutdown, rather than over 2 minutes in both cases, being able to disable on XP the 'feature' that causes wireless spiking, which can't be disabled on Vista. Being able to enter a folder and not fear for my sorting (honestly, entering a folder and having everything in name order when you set everything to type order is a minor bug but a major gripe). When I can browse my folders quickly (XP) instead of waiting for them to load (Vista).
