I am testing last couple days on 3600X using AMD overclocking and I get the same results in gaming 4250Mhz thru to 4500Mhz,I think I will stay at 4250Mhz for a bit.

Full load CPU drops to 1.25v ,set to 1.3v in BIOS
DDR4 CL16 3733Mhz @ 1.35v

Highest temperature recorded while encoding H265 12bit video 72.9c and CPU Fan RPM hit 1721 ,not bad at all I would say.

Yes the boost is messed up and I come to realization AMD is not going to fix it.I thought for a month now that they would ,I was wrong.
Did you find any gaming difference, which would be hard to tell when gaming with all OC 4200Mhz from the poor boost clocks.
I actually tested a few games and from 3800Mhz thru to 4500Mhz no real gaming difference.I was going to do a whole CPU scaling thing but can not be bothered with the games I tested so far.

I know mine is a different cpu I have the 3900x I can achieve a all core pc of 4.3ghz at 1.285v I think I won’t the silicon lottery tbh:) but the boosting on my chip does boost higher though in games 4.44ghz at stock which is actually a few frames better on my gpu. But my max temps are about the same in games about 80 degrees give or take. But my idle temps are high 50s for either oc or stock on my x570 c8h mobo.

But the work around I do is use the nromal non amd power saving plan in windows 10 it brings my idle temps way down to the 30s and completely stops the boosting in Normal condition and even in games when the pc knows it wants the power still boosts as high as balance plan.

As I said this is a different cpu though but it’s how I’ve been handling my amd Ryzen 3000 atm
Sad part is the 3900X should boost up to 4800Mhz on a core or two and be able to handle the voltage and temperatures with reasonable cooling. That aside the 3900X is a beast of a CPU and fast as anything out there. So adjusting for lower temperatures is all good and you still have the speed.
I only game on my computers ,so I knew I was getting the 3600X after I decide to get Ryzen 3xxx for the best possible gaming experience for me playing 4K.

I did not see any difference but the cpu runs a tad cooler gaming. At most 5c cooler. i feel for those whose boosts are higher, thus harder to achieve all-core oc.

Why do you think AMD got rid of the boost? i think is to tame the temp. They are still trying to figure it out themselves. lol

I agree it is an attempt to control voltage and temperatures with the initial shock and horror reaction by people upgrading and switching to AMD Ryzen.AMD changed it's wording for the Ryzen 3xxx line up and not sure if AMD will bother with the boost clocks much more or like you said ,still trying to figure it out.

My 3600X first BIOS AMD Combo 1.0.0.3 boost over Max boost written on the box with higher voltage to achieve the highest boost.
In total there are 5 different BIOS for my motherboard X470 and each one released after the first BIOS my chip can not hit Max boost anymore with lower voltage and temperatures.
I am not to bothered by this because I know it does not make a difference in what I do with the CPU in gaming.

AMD people upgrading may be disappointed because of not getting there Mhz which is bad overall for AMD but the CPU's are still fast no matter the Mhz says on an overlay.
For the Intel guys buying Ryzen the shock may be so great with lower Mhz they just give up on the Ryzen and do not even try and return there gear.
AMD Ryzen is just as good as Intel in the gaming department now but people will always want the higher Mhz and 5000Mhz is the in thing to shoot for and will not see for the life of them that 96 FPS compared to 100FPS is no real difference in a game.
.Shoot rambling to much sorry. Why the hell did I write that stuff ,the lower Mhz must be bugging me :D
