downloading stuff from psn - leave it on?

hi guys,

when you set a demo or whatever to download, it is fine just to leave the ps3 sat on the xmb screen? i leave my pc on overnight is the ps3 any different?

only asking cuz it just feels wrong to leave a console on if you know what i mean...

It's fine. In fact some PS3s are left on 24/7 as servers. Just make sure you room isn't too stuffy I guess.

Quite often i leave my PS3 running all night, especially when i fall asleep watching a movie or whatever.

It'll be fine.

For some reason the PSN doesn't seem to download when I'd doing other stuff with it like playing games or watching movies is that normal?

Yes it is normal, it will continue though when you quit the game.

I think it does continue when watching a movie from the PS3 harddisk or streaming from a network source but not a DVD or Blu Ray

As for the original question, it is perfectly fine to leave the PS3 running.

If you play games online then it will stop the download, it may even do the same with games with an online component like Score tables (but im not sure on this point).

As to the OP, you can leave your PS3 on for weeks without issue, infact if you look at the Warhawk info all the servers being used are PS3's and many places have them running Folding at home 24/7, so its not an issue.

I often leave mine on over night, especially if I'm downloading something from the US PSN, not had any issues yet.
