Downsizing my PC

Hi,
I am looking at downsizing my current rig, my current setup is:

Corsair Carbide 300R
Intel i5-3570K
Gigabyte Z77-D3H
Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB PC3-12800C9
GeForce GTX 560Ti 448 Edition 1280MB
Crucial M4 128GB SSD
2x 1TB drives (one with a SSD caching drive)
Cooler Master Silent Pro Modular 700W

I would like something that I can reuse my bits in (happy to buy a new CPU cooler if need be), needs to be quiet and run a lot cooler than my current rig (the heat that my current box belts out is impressive, internal temps are fine though).

I am very taken with the Corsair 540, what are peoples opinions on this?
 
Yeah realised after double checking the dimensions lol. We'll either way this case or something like that. Mainly after decent cooling and noise :)
 
I'm slightly confused, if you're re-using all of your existing machine parts, how will you get it to run cooler?

Heat being pushed out of your box is an indication of the heat being dissipated properly.

If you want your machine to generate less heat, you'd have to either move to more efficient parts or lower-performance ones.
 
Ok it's my bad then, I thought a case like the 540 would decrease the amount of hot air emitted as the amount of cool air would be increased.

How about moving to a micro itx and switching to a h80i or equivalent
 
At the end of the day a rig 'belting out' hot air is a good thing. If you reduce the hot air coming out, you'll increase the internal temps, which may cripple performance.

Why are you worried about the air coming out of it? Is it heating up something it shouldn't be?
 
The only way you will reduce the amount of heat given off by your computer is to remove the components that generate the heat, mainly the GPU and CPU.

You can either remove them (GPU), swap them for components that give off less heat or try to down clock them.
 
Just makes my room really hot. My room gets hot enough without my pc being on so when I do come to use it, it gets unbearable after a while.
Problem is I'm moving next year so might not have the room for a desktop unit so keep looking at laptops also

From your spec and what your looking to do, my recommendation would be invest in an ITX setup and a more efficient graphics card. The 670\680 are great cards and perform to the same level as the new 770s but come cheaper. The twin frozr and gigabyte windforce cards be a great choice. If you wanted to look at a more efficient CPU, i think it would be the 3570S.

However, if the cost is too high, you may as well consider haswell.

Ok thanks will take a look at that. I guess my gfx card isn't the most efficient :)
Looking at the Bitfenix Prodigy, can this be made almost silent?
 
I'll rephrase that. :)

itx will be better if you want to downsize even more. The prodigy is big for an itx case.

Matx does give you more options though such as xfire.

But you will have to shell out more on a xfire compatible motherboard. Such as the gene or sniper.
 
Haha, yeah that makes more sense. In a prodigy an mATX would definitely give you more options at the same size, but yeah personally I think ITX builds are lovely in a smaller case than the Prodigy, though I have to say I do like the new Phenoms.

It just read as if you were saying an ITX in a prodigy would give you more options, it would certainly give you a lot more space for hard drives lol.
 
It just needs a handle on top or a bag specifically designed for it :D

I do wish it had the same foot on the bottom at the back as it does a the front.
I just keep looking at it and thinking, sit up properly, stop slouching.
