Downstairs toilet and back drain blocked

Done, but the thread snapped on a rod, and now two rods are somewhere in the drain. :-/ Hardly any torsional force was used, just crap drain set.

Ive used rods a number of times, and put quite a lot of force on them, and i aint had one snap on me yet. You sure you didnt just twist it anti clockwise at some point and unscrew a rod?

No thank god, just used the rod only, didn't want to use the attachments in case it came loose, lucky we didn't! Just pushed 8 rods, unblocked. When pulled back then counted and found minus 2 :-( then looking at the end one snapped off

Should be alright for a year years, and by that won't be our problem (moved house probably) I guess someone could use a grabbler/camera rod to try and grab the broken off rod?

We had this appen years ago when some numpty was flushing nappies down the toilet from higher up the hill. Our drainage system meant that all the houses in a straight line were connected so if one sent something down and it got blocked, it would block in someone elses drain. We had a veritable fountain forcing the "airtight cover" open one year, so dad managed to clear it and cemented it closed forever. The next street down wasn't so lucky....
