DPD delivery

I've never had an issue with any courier who've delivered something to me but what I do like about DPD is the hour window they email to you.

At least I don't have to sit in all day until the courier arrives at 1659 as is the usual for me.

depends where you live really, as far as i iknow they only have ONE depo for the whole country (birmingham) which is too far for me to go if i have to collect it
I can tell you that is incorrect. One hub, yes, but not one depot. A national courier would not get very far with one depot.

so how many 'depots' are there then? is there a list somewhere?
i prefered city link as they had a depot in wednesbury which is still far away from me BUT there was a bus stop VERY close to it and it was a route i knew so this was good for me :)

i found them to be very good the delivery widow on website is really helpful. now citylink on the other hand have caused me such problems that i rufuse to order off any company that uses them anymore.

I've had excellent results with deliveries from OcUK via DPD. Just ordered some stuff and only option was DX Secure with free delivery tho :S so soon gonna find out just how good or bad they are, almost wishing I'd added more to the order to make it DPD.

No matter what company I use I find that service quality will vary greatly from actual driver bar few organisations like UPS which cost arm and a leg.

They, like many delivery companies, seem to be operated as franchises, and so you'll get different levels of service in different areas. Obviously they're generally considered to be good otherwise they wouldn't still be in business, but you're going to get your bad experiences. That is true of even the most highly regarded service/business unfortunately.

I've had no issues with them.

I have used DPD with OCUK about 15 times now. My stuff arrives within a 10 minute window every time between 2:55 and 3:05 and the lady isn't the most friendly but she does her job well!

Well it depends hugely where you live, I'm in Swindon and the nearest DPD depot is Gloucester, if they ain't got enough drops for Swindon they don't bother, it's as simple as that. 3 times I have paid for Saturday delivery, tracking says on van for delivery and even gives delivery window, but it never arrives.

I have found out that most drivers are self employed and if they do not get enough drops for an area they don't bother until they do.

The BBC are investigating this outfit, because they do not carry out what they advertise. Phantom carding etc.

Royal Mail or UPS would be much better, but like I said if DPD are on your doorstep or your area using DPD a lot then no problem. In Swindon they are 100% crap.

My nearest DPD depot is Exeter and I'm quite a way out cross country (more than 30 miles) and they've always (so far) delivered promptly on the day and the driver has been relatively cheerful, unlike DHL, city link, etc. where the drivers were down right mopey and acting like you were making them go out of their way.

Lots. I found a list by doing a quick Google search but have no idea how up to date it is. Easiest way to find out your local depot is to check this part of the DPD site:

http://www.dpd.co.uk/utilapps/depotfinder/showForm.action

Whack in your postcode and it'll tell you your nearest depot. Mine is Newbury which is only about 15 miles away from Basingstoke.

It's the same as any other courier. Seems to depend where you live.

When I was through in Newcastle, they were shockingly bad. Out of about 20 deliveries, they managed to **** up more than half of them. On one occasion they delivered to the wrong street and on another, they told me the van was full so they couldn't deliver it that day (it was a Friday and a bank holiday weekend so I didn't get it until Tuesday). I phoned up once to find out what the problem was and spoke to a lass with a Yorkshire accent. When I told her I was calling from Newcastle she said "Not another one. They're hopeless over there."

Since I moved to South Shields, I haven't had any problems with them whatsoever.

DPD in Glasgow are really excellent. They were good at my old address, and they are just as good a few miles into town.

Really ace service. And they usually tend to deliver before 13:00 at the latest!

DPD in my area are terrible. I've had numerous instances of things not arriving, the card through the door when there were several of us in, no doorbell rung, they've screwed up on deliveries far too often for me to see how they can be seen as "good."

I've used DPD for a long time. 2 years, maybe more can't really remember. I've literally ordered about 50 times using them and only once have they been late (outside of their delivery window) by 15 mins.

sounds like it just depends where you live, maybe the best way to go about ths thread is just to tell everyone what area you live in and those from around there will reply :)

also whats this DX everyone speaks of on here, it isn't listed as an option on the site?

I agree it's 100% dependant on where you live.
I got my Saturday delivery today Tuesday, reason given by DPD, driver ran out of time, which is very odd as the delivery window was 11:30-12:30.
The truth is they never bothered because they did not have enough drops to warrant the fuel spent getting from Gloucester to Swindon.

I cannot fault OCUK they did everything they said, it's a shame the courier fails everytime I order.

Could a system be put in place where the buyer can request say Royal Mail if they want to pay extra. If it was say £3-5 more than DPD I would pay it. Just a thought.
