I was due the Kingston SSD today between 10:34-11:34. A DPD van drove along my street at about 11 slowed down outside my house (but didn't stop) and then carried on going. Now the tracking says the following:

Unable to deliver, need contact name/number

Even though my order list with OcUK goes back 3 years and i've not changed address. How do I go about re-arranging the delivery on DPD's website or here on OcUK, making sure that the invalids deliver this time?

Phone them up, if you're lucky enough to speak to someone they can sometimes get the driver to redeliver the same day.

At least City Link managed to, they never left a card or anything, was just luck I checked the tracking to see if they'd updated a delivery time.
Called them and the driver returned later to drop the parcel off.

If you call DPD they may be able to get hold of the driver and get him to deliver it today if he's still in the area.

Rang them, the automated woman on the other end said i'd have to 'contact the company who sent you the parcel'.

Starting to get ****ed off with this, this is the part where i'll be yoyo'ing back and forth between OcUk and DPD with both companies telling me it's not their fault and the other one is to blame.

Technically the contract is between OcUK and DPD rather than yourself and DPD so they should be able to sort it if you get hold of them but it is a bit of a ballache when it could really have been sorted there and then.

I wonder if there is some kind of equal opportunities thing that prescribes delivery companies must employ a certain number of mentally challenged individuals as drivers.

EDIT: This happened to me on Saturday and I'm hoping it doesn't happen to me again today...

Thats the main issue I have with DPD, never anyone to talk to!!

They've linked up with City Link right? If so I called 08444 930 914 and got straight through to someone.
Its not DPD but they seem to share a lot with them so it may help.

theres no need for that, maybe the DPD driver is just lazy

Why didnt you go running down the street flailing your arms in the air?

On a more serial note though, speak to OcUK customer services.

or maybe they just have a **** load of stuff to deliver on stupidly large routes with little amount of time? have you ever seen a schedule these guys have to do?

Nope, but then I don't do my job really half-assed when my superiors dump shedloads of work on me.

Your argument is irrelevant. If he had time for his route to take him to the OPs premises, why could he not deliver? That's nothing to do with having a tight schedule, it's about being a lazy moron.

In touch with OcUK Customer Service at the moment. Hopefully they'll sort this mess out. No idea how they 'missed' my address as i've not had delivery issues with anyone before so a lazy driver I think.

and being a lazy moron has nothing to do with having a mental disability, so your argument is irrelevant

and if it was 100% laziness they wouldn't of even bothered driving passed the address they would have just gone straight to the next job.

so you have never been in a rush to get somewhere, know you are going to miss a schedule if you don't do something quickly or skip it (their next drop might of been an important business delivery that HAD to be on time) couldn't quite work out the address so decided for the good of his rounds to skip it and move on?

Doesn't really make sense to be a lazy driver if he had actually come to your road. Are there any reasons why he might not be able to find your property? Like house numbers that aren't that visible etc?

The only issue I've had with Couriers not attempting to deliver is because I live in flats. Usually there is a porter to accept deliveries, if he is not about, then a number simply don't bother, which is shameful that they don't even bother to ring my actual flat as DHL did a couple of weeks back.

You don't have a house with a name, not a number do you? Delivery drivers hate those :)

Number and then name, either one works so there's no excuses now! :p

Where abouts in Derbyshire are you? A DPD driver managed to find me ok this morning in a time slot just before your.

Belper.

My house is right in the middle of our road and it's unmissable due to it being a 'new town house' sourounded bu cottages. If you go on Google maps and type in my address whether it's the number, name or both it takes you directly to it so I guess they must be using crappy GPS although he did slow down when he was outside of it only to drive away.

Bizarre.

To me, it is suggestive of brain damage in some form to drive to the place you're meant to be, not bother attempting delivery and leaving, yes. If you're not going to even bother attempting delivery, why further stress your already tight schedule by taking a pointless detour? You're conveniently glossing over what actually happened in order to promote some bankrupt argument about delivery schedules.

The point I'm getting at is that many of us take days off which forgo income in order to receive deliveries on certain dates as choosing a more convenient date is simply not feasible. This is especially true of large deliveries where commuting with the delivery being made at one's place of work is simply not possible.

Everybody has work problems from time to time. Everybody has ridiculously high expectations laid at their feet because management is disorganised, etc. There is never an acceptable time for this internal mess to be displayed outwardly to paying customers - that's just bad business.
