I ordered a lens from a shop that insisted that they had to ship to the cardholder address. So it's coming via DPD on Monday and like everybody else in the world I'll be at work. I've been on their site and I can't change it to another address (lol yeah right), or do a collect+. They say they can't leave it anywhere (neighbours or otherwise).

I seem to recall when I bought a lens from this store before they attempted the delivery- then I believe I could change it to a collect+ for the redelivery? Does that sound right? It was a long time ago...

The nearest depot is hard to get to (don't have a car) so if it ends up there it'll be a major ball ache.

Tldr: I'm not going to be in for my DPD delivery, what will they do with it?

they will attempt delivery on monday if they're unable to deliver they will try again the next day, once they've tried twice with no luck it will be held at the depot until you request a new date, After so long of being held with no new date requested then it will get returned to sender.

if you have had a few dpd delivery's they might leave it in a "safe space" .. depends on area ..
my guy is tom and leaves it where we have discussed.
the dogs now know him so he wont lose an arm ..lol

You should be able to rearrange on their website for a day of your choice, maybe even a Saturday if that suits you.
It already gives me the option to change the day but not to Saturday :(

Is the Collect+ option a pipedream here?

You should be able to redeliver to a shop (not sure if it's specifically Collect+) before first delivery. You can do it through their app as well (they match deliveries to your postcode and/or telephone number).

I think it depends what you’ve purchased. If you’ve bought something you can use the app to change delivery date and I think place.

If you’ve got something via an interest free offer/by now pay later, then it has to go to card address

I've had similar issues with DPD before. I had to let the delivery fail and then speak to them to arrange for it to be sent to a collection location

Well, bizarrely I got a text this morning saying my delivery would be made between 12:03 and 13:03 today. So I'm sitting here twitching at any sort of noise on the street.. let's see if they come good. Good job I didn't have anything planned :o

Why not ask DPD?
If you note my OP it was 10pm. I doubt they were open and I see so many complaints about them on here I thought there'd be plenty of experiences :)

Can't you arrange to collect it from the depot or is that too far away ?
It's two buses and about 1hr away. Tedious, and I object to doing that when I've paid for the delivery. It's not necessarily DPD's fault but the store who insisted via stupid card rules (not necessary btw) that it must be sent to the cardholder's address.

Delivery to the address only is BS. 9 times out of 10 the DPD driver will still try to palm it off on a neighbour or leave in a safe place (even a neighbours safe place in my experience!). Don't know about anywhere else but round here parcels rarely ever get taken back to the depot.
