Any1 got them? as they are on ear are they comfortable after hours of use? do they have overpowering bass like the studio ones?

Thanks

Not heard them but putting the name of some Hip Hop artist doesn't strike me as being that of a headphone destined to be any rival to that from the well established headphone manufacturers who dont require gimmicks like this.

Believe it or not, they're some of the best sounding headphones you can buy, quite pricey too. No idea why they marketed them as "Dr. Dre" though, unless it was to catch people's attention and force them into googling them under the assumption that they're crap.

ive not heard those particular ear phones but i have heard the dr dre monster beats in a high street retailer (large music retailer). not exactly a high fi environment but gives a good traveling test environment. i couldnt hear too much background noise.

they were pretty good, but at £280 they really do need to be good. out of my budget but i wanted too see what they are like

Not true, I've heard them and they don't sound anything more than "ok." They should be a third of what they cost, max. They cost the same as HD-25's FFS.......

I personally think they sound pretty amazing! Much better than the regular headphones on the market. The Solo beats (which I just got) are a lot smaller and very comfortable, but still give off that great sound.
Monster & Dr. Dre are in the name - so you can imagine the type of sound they give off ;)
I love them!

Yeah, my friend had a pair and i listened to a few songs on them, great piece of hardware but i dont think there worth the price tag, i would prefer some sennheisers!

Considering the lack of uptake by headphone fanatics and that you can pretty much get some Senn 650s + tube amp for that money, I highly doubt it.

But that Dr Dre marketing must add at least 10hp+

Woops, wrong section :D

The Monster Beats do come with a built in amp that helps considerably with the sound - you can always get a portable amp from ebay that will massively help bass extension on pretty much every headphone.

Don't agree one bit on that :) Guess it does also depend on the music you are listening to and what you want to hear from them.

So are they just designed for hiphop? I havent seen these headphone but i have visions of them being marketed like all in one hi-fi systems that have 3000 watts RMS and a 5000watt subwoofer with mega/monster/chunky bass!

Then you turn it on and it does sound bassy but a load of loud uncontrolled crap bass

The various Dre Beats headphones (there are a few) have a reputation for decent sound but being horrendously overpriced.

Quite a few reviews over on head-fi.

And regarding UK headphone prices - thank goodness for Goldring. Most other stuff is overpriced here. The audio-technical markup is just ridiculous.

They're far from "the best you can buy" but the studio version are seen as a good buy if you need active noise cancellation. Though i don't think any audiophille would support active cancellation in general.

Gotta agree with this.. my A900s cost £110 from the US when I got them and today they are still retailing for almost £200 over here arn't they?
There are the JVC HAR-X700 alternatives which are said to be very similar for a fraction of the price (about £50)

lol skullcandy eeeekk.

Problem is some people just dont appreciate reference style headphones. To a lot of people quality is "how loud will it go and how much bass will it put out".

If your into music and sound quality enough then you get past this stage.

To each there own.
