Dr Michael Mosley goes missing during hike on Greek island

Literally just read the same story on BBC.

Phone was in their holiday home. If that's not something he often does, like my better half, that doesn't bode well. Plus the fact emergency services have been looking for him for just over 24 hours.

Whoa....I would never leave the phone behind. Especially on holiday in a new unfamiliar environment. Unless the walk he went on is in his back garden.

I just had a look at the island on Google Street View and got strong ARMA III vibes.

Anyway, I hope he's found safe, but it doesn't look good with some of the earlier details.

Every year the same. Sun hits like a freight train between 12 and 5 pm it doesn't take long to faint.

100%, did a bit of gardening over the weekend, while it was nice around midday and even at 20C it didn't take long before I was sweating and panting. This involved digging and pulling at things (no) with quite a bit of force though :D

My initial thought was perhaps slipping on coast path into the sea, but 1 news report said he went walking towards the centre of the island from St Nicolas beach. Seems a strange thing to do, given the centre of the island is pretty barren.
Unless its a translation error and they meant the main / capital town.

Looking at it on maps, it looks a very dry barren landscape. Not hard to get overwhelmed by heat, especially if he didn’t have a big cool bottle of water

Would have thought if that had happened though they'd probably find him easily with a search, there isn't a lot of thick cover by the looks of it, etc.
