BBC looking to hit all the other employment tick boxes with the new Dr Who actor.

I'm shocked it's also not a woman. Would have been perfect then.

Hehe he.

Hes going to do well. He did well in Sex Education.

Happy with it being a guy. Race doesn't matter but the character "The Doctor" is male, it was disgusting that they attempted to change decades of history and storytelling.
Hopefully davies retcons everything from chibnall's disgrace and everyone pretends it didn't happen.

Doesn't really matter who is cast as the Doctor.

The show has been terrible since Matt Smith, maybe before.

Awful, awful writing.

A gay black guy as the new Doctor Who, I bet the BBC creamed themselves at the prospect.

Doctor Who used to be great. Now it's a woke tick box exercise that needs retiring again. A shame as I used to love Doctor Who.

Wow dont hold back on your predjudices. Thats some mighty big tick boxes they have ticked for you.

I rememeber when, many years ago they outed the doctor from Eastenders as gay. There was a massive uproar.

Disgusting? I have some bad news for you about the new Thor film as well.

Pretty sure he's not gay, he just played a gay character on a show.

It's honestly pathetic how outraged some of you lot get about fictional characters being changed by the people that own the rights to said characters.

Don't care what they are.

You know the oddest thing I noticed with a new character was when they had a relationship developing between Billie Piper ( I think it was ) and the doctor and they they introduced a much older doctor. They made a point of killing the relationship off instantly as both doctor and Billie said "obviously" the relationship had to stop. The strange thing I though was that the doctor was 1000 years old in both cases but it was only when he had an older body that it was seen as gross and inappropriate. When you think about it, that's really weird. It seems that age doesn't matter but the state of your body does!!

Why I watch Baywatch (original series) and Amazon prime and similar.

I'm watching this, ok it's cheesy, but honestly makes you realise how ****/woke everything has become.

Predictable:
The interesting question is who (which demographic) they get to play The Doctor next? Considering that viewers and ratings have collapsed with the first female lead (whether or not that's anything to do with her being a female).

1) Kill the show now and revive it in the future - They can't do this because a number of people would say a woman driver crashed the car and shout "get woke, go broke".
1) Revert back to a traditional white male - They can't do this. It would be admitting defeat and pandering to the few people who did genuinely stop watching due to the gender change.
2) Another woman - They can't do this because they would still have a woman playing the role when it's inevitably cancelled after a season of the next Doctor.
4) Get a black/asian male actor to play the part - This would continue the diversity theme and if the series still fails then no single demographic could be pointed at.

I think option 4 is the only route they can go now.

But regardless, it's the writing which need to change. That's the real cause of the problem.

EDIT: Also kill off the Daleks for good please.

Female Thor has established lore in the comics already, so thats fine. Along with "Thor" being a completely different species in some cases. I suppose you can argue female thor only happened back in the 2000's or something so I guess its "recent" but still its been 20+ years.
Also I use the word disgusting mainly in regards to changing well established lore and who "The Doctor" is, similar to many characters being gender swapped for political purposes with no pre-established lore to justify it. Its also a coincidence that all of the gender swapped movie/tv-shows fail hard.

Thor and Jane Fosters Thor are not the same character. She will be taking over the "Thor" helmet or whatever words you want to use as "replacement" but its a different character.
I don't necessary agree with the change but, whatever its not the same person.

Im fairly sure there were female timelords in one or two episodes. But Im woke so it wouldnt have had that big an impression on me then.

And when have drastic character changes ever worked out?

Ocean's 11
Men in Black
Ghostbusters
Dr Who

Lord of the rings is next...

Hopefully they don't ruin James Bond too.

The master springs to mind from the more recent additions to the doctor who material with the "Missy" regeneration during Peter Capaldi's doctor.
Then we have the bald guy in the control room regenerate into a young black woman in one of the episodes.
Depends if you want to take onboard the little changes they started to make or not I guess? getting ready for the big changes from Chibnall's era that completely rewrite everything that has been built over 50+ years.
I don't necessarily have an issue with the doctor having a female regeneration (although I don't agree with it), I do however take issue with changing previous lore namely the timeless child nonsense to make it so the doctor has been a woman before so why it a big deal you sexist pigs!??

I vote for Diane Abbot.

I mean you might as well tick all the minority boxes, including mentally challenged. With luck she would try to reason with the Daleks and end up a dusty shadow on the wall.
