Drag-and-Drop?

Am trying to use my mum's ancient mp3 player. It's a drag-and-drop USB thing, only I've just lost the ability to drag the files (in windows explorer). It's all types, not just music. Have you any idea what's going on and how I can fix it?

I've had this before, I never found the solution, or cause. But a restart always cured it.
