Dragon Age 3 announced.

I'll be buying it on the strength of DA:O, more in hope than expectation that they can reach those heights again.

is the second one really that bad? i own the original complete version but never finished it, cant be bothered to go back now either if the series has gone **** up

Why do you think they gave away a free copy of ME 2 (GotY) with new purchases of DA2, they needed to the shift some units otherwise it would look bad for investors ;)

I heard DA3 is going to be awesome, one room, one boss, but multiple addon's that we can purchase. It's and EPIC room tho, has spiderman wallpaper n everything.

Hey we will all pre-order it too as they will offer OP armour/weapons that can't be obtained in game.

I wish I was joking :(

Nope, signed up for minecraftia ;p

Long time listener, first time poster.

Just I don't like the way some games are going, pushing to release when they are not ready then patching/adding stuff that should have been there at release.

It's first bioware game that i had serious issues with, completed kotro 7 times, jade empire 3, ME 4 times etc.....

sad face

Give it a rest opeth. DA2 was a pile of **** through and through. From the giant chunks cut out of the story to the crap way it was told. From the lame 'press button for awesome' combat to the ridiculous animations for absolutely everything. From the empty town/city to the recycled external areas. From the fact saying hello to most male characters appears to be a request for sex to the way Flemeth suddenly became a dominatrix and all the other female characters also became **** on legs.

There isn't a thing they should take from DA2.

Fair enough.

I can see what your saying above, but I did like the graphics and the fighting ... I honeslty thought it was a improvment from the first...

You forgot to mention the ninja spawning enemies that made any sort of tactical approach to combat pointless. 'keep your mages at distance and at the back' what is the ******* point when all of a sudden the 'back' becomes the front EVERY SINGLE COMBAT ENCOUNTER! Would not mind if fade demons did it; that is what they do, but when peasants and pirates ninja from thin air it takes the ****. I basically broke the game as for every combat encounter I would just retreat back through the map so that they could not spawn behind me. However sometimes this would me that sometimes I could not talk to a quest npc during the quest as I hadn't by that point tripped the invisible trigger to spawn the next set of enemies behind me! Stupid steaming pile of @j&@! Needless to say, it sits on my shelf unfinished.

True as well and you could 'tell' when entering an area that you was going to get jump.

It wasn't that bad. In reality it was to DA:O what ME2 was to ME2, streamlined for the console audience.

Take it for what it is and enjoy it, although to be fair the repetitive locations & ninja spawning enemies were fairly ridiculous, in the end it's all worth it for Isabella ;)

It really wasn't. ME2 while dumbed down did at least address things that needed sorting out even if it didn't do it that well. Ie, the inventory system being a pain, so they removed it which was a tad lame. And exploring barren, lifeless planets, turned into the most tedious planet scanning in the world.

Combat at least felt smoother even if you did lose the ability to fight on your own terms and there tended to be a tactical approach to it.

DA2 was just rushed.

But even within ME2 (& ME1) there were large sections of replicated tiles - just not as blatant as DA2. The combat was made *more* fps, or at least that seemed the intention with ammo clips, cover etc, to make it appeal & recognisable to the masses.

DAO combat was made into a more fluid, far less tactical affair, which reminds me of the Darksiders type of console game, again going for the instant recognisablity & reduced complexity.
DA2 combat seemed to me to be designed the way it was so that you could go mental with your main character (whatever type) whilst the rest of your party distracted some enemies and at least one kept you up by healing.

I guess the point I'm aiming at is that the signs were there with the transition from ME1 to ME2, and it was perhaps more clearly demonstrated in DAO to DA2 that this is how they're taking it forward. Less complexity, less choice of equipment, straight forward good/nasty conversation choices, less chance of messing your character up, less chance of the casual gaming masses becoming confused, and overall, less chance of the previous loyal fans actually liking the product, although sales are the main target of course.

I liked DA2, but not as an RPG, it was very much an RPG-lite. The devs definitely need to find a middle ground where tactics & complexity is present for those who demand it, and button mashing is available for those who don't.
DA-Arcade next? ;)
