Anyone watch Dragons Den?
It's one of the only television programs I'll actually sit down and watch week after week. I think really good.

Not sure if this thread will spark a great discussion on the program...it's worth a try though eh :)

Anyone see old chap that was on last night? The one with the exercise armchair? He had Duncan Ballentyne(sp?) in tears with laughter :p

Thanks

Yep, really good telly. There is a lot of money on the Dragon panel and self made money at that.

There are some right numpties that get ripped to shreds though. That pillock with the chair gym was hilarious. :)

I used to like Simon Woofruffe (sp?) when he was on there. He seemed a pretty likeable chap.

I don't like the new woman though, apart from cracking my tv screen I don't think she has added anything constructive so far.

Yeah :p
Did you see the chap with the breakdown phone service thingy? That was just the silliest idea...

I totally agree.

A lot of the 'Dragons' do appear to think of themselves as better than everyone that is presenting though :( They come off as being very rude at times!

Yeah its a good show, i always seem to forget its on and catch the last one where they usually get an offer.

Id hate to be on the spot like that. "ill give you the £75k but i want 40% of EVERYTHING!"

I remember a pair of guys that had an inflatable shelter or something, the dragons wanted a huge share, but the guys were resoloute they could only give something piddly like 14%. I think they went home empty handed

Intense viewing eheheh

Did anyone see Charlie Brooker rip the piddle out of it last night on his BBC4 show?

The budding inventor has to negotiate a set of awkward stairs, then even more awkward stares. The panel couldn't be anymore intimidating unless they were sitting there with their penises out. Especially her.

Yep they do, but it's a large sum of money remember, and it's theirs ;) They need to make sure they get a return and everything runs smoothly etc.

it is similar to the apprentice in that it opens up business to the mass viewing public but beyond that it is very little that an avenue for 5 millionaires to further their media careers - duncan bannatyne even harbours ambitions to be an actor!

this is reinforced as the two most straightforward people on the show - woodroofe and richard both left.

furthermore the ideas are getting worse and worse as people cotton onto this fact and really good ideas would have already been snapped up by vcs etc.

the only reason is is good to watch is to see people put their time and life into seemingly rubbish ideas.

most of the money that is agreed to be invested never happens anyway as there are always details that are altered or missing.

i liked the way the woman from the first series was so full of herself doing the big i am impresion then her company went down the pan and several charities went on tv saying she had ripped them of lol

theres been some good stuff on there... the poop scooper was a good one... massively over engineered for the task and incredibly expensive but still.... nice invention :D

I love this show. My fave so far was the guy with the Egg boiler.
It looked total pants and when he tried to demo it the egg came out raw, he tried again and still it came out raw then he ran out of eggs. Still they offered him 75k  I nearly peeed my pantys. :p

Some of the negotiations are a bit disappointing, do the people purposely overvalue the stakes they're offering and hence are only too happy to accept less or are they just afraid to make a counteroffer?
