Draining Battery

Where is the boot ajar sensor? Can you jam it closed with boot open?

Failing that seats down and jam a rear door ajar sensor closed with door open.

Some cars the sensor is on the catch so easily accessible and easily jammed closed with rolled up paper.

I'm not sure i'll have to have a look.
It's taking me so long to sort this out as i've got deadlines to hit for other things right now so just having to do this as and when I can.

I'll try to pop out during work today and find out where the boot and door sensors are and if I can just engage them by jamming then in with the doors open.

Car started this morning fine though and the problem has been happening every day for 5-6 days now. Plus, every single thing in the car has bene working perfectly except the MMi system which has been acting up so right now i'm quite confident that was the problem.

The first day I had a low battery warning...the MMi had froze that morning on the way to work so maybe it just bugged out that day

Quite a common problem on Audis it seems. Just search for the problem in google and it comes up with loads of hits.

My VW Golf had a battery drain problem a couple of years ago and it turned out to be a faulty auxiliary fuel pump controller drawing off 11A! Changed the controller and all was good again.

Beware that cars these days don't shut off modules as soon as you lock the car, so you may see 'excessive' draw from the battery up to 30 mins after locking, but this might be entirely normal for your car.

Yes it does seem to be fairly common like!

I stuck the meter to my window last night and ran the leads through so I could lock the car and leave it. After just 5 minutes with the Radio/Sat Nav fuse removed, the reading went down to 0.00 on the 10A range which is what it should be.

I then put the Radio/Sat Nav fuse back in and locked the car again. After 5 mins the reading was 4.5A. I then came back after another 30 minutes and it was still 4.5A.

To verify, I took the fuse back out once again and left it and just 5 minutes later it was down to 0.00.

Next step is to remove the Sat Nav unit from the boot and take it apart and check for faulty component on the PCB. If I can't find anything, then it must be from behind the dash so it'll go back to Audi.
Most likely just a damaged Capacitor or something in the boot unit though - fingers crossed
