Hi all,

Specs first of all:
Intel Pentium E5400 2.7 ghz (Wolfdale)
4gb DDR3 PC3-10700 (667 Mhz) generic ram
Foxconn g41mxe motherboard

400 Watt generic PSU (possibly soon to be upgraded to corsair 500w)

Right, this motherboard seems to lack any control of the FSB:DRAM ratio. In the northbridge options, there is a setting for DRAM frequency to be either "Auto" or "800 MHz". I have selected 800mhz and then upped the bus speed to 230 MHz; overclocking my CPU to 3.1ghz.

However, looking at CPU-Z's memory tab, I see that the DRAM frequency is 460 MHz, which means that the bios setting has had no effect (as far as I can tell from my limited knowledge).

Basically what I want to know, is how hard should I push this system to overclock? Right now, my CPU temps remain below 48C on load. But OCing the CPU also OC's the RAM (at a 1:2 FSB:DRAM ratio)

Unless you can control the RAM multiplier, you might hit an overclocking wall. Any chance of a 1:1 ratio? If it's generic RAM then I won't overclock it too much.
