Dreamcast!

Ah Dreamcast, that takes me back. Great console in its day and unfortunatly had its life cut short. Agree with pretty much all the game suggestions on here (the ones I've played anyway). This thread is tempting me to pick up one second hand since I no longer have mine.

It's about time I played through Shenmue again.

Must've been at least 2 years since I last played it..

There's been talk of Shenmue 3, but tbh I really wouldn't mind just a jazzed up next (current) gen version of the first two. Should cost a fraction of developing an entirely new game and would make the game accessible to millions of new people.

im playing shenmue atm and the controls are pretty awful, am I just being picky or is it dam hard to control the character ?

From my personal collection, any of these will do you proud. :)

Get yourself a copy of Seaman on import. Very strange stuff indeed but certainly worth the effort. Can't think of anything similar that has been made before or since.

Well I won the Dreamcast bundle I had my eye on from ebay today.

Dreamcast
2 Pads
VMU
Rumble
9 Games (all as new):
Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil 3
Resident Evil: Code Veronica
Space Channel 5
Jet Set Radio
Crazy Taxi
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Alone in the Dark: A New Nightmare

All for £29.74 inc delivery :D

I've already bought:

Sonic Adventure (used)
Shenmue (outer box is worn but the rest is mint)
Sonic Adventure 2 (used, excellent condition)
Grandia II (mint)
Skies of Arcadia (mint)

I also picked up a VGA box from the US so I can try it on my HDTV, and a Scart cable for games that don't work with it. Just a shame I can't play lightgun games :(

So I'm going to keep my eyes out for a few more games to finish it off. If I can pick up most of them in the next few weeks it should keep me happy for a while.
Shenmue II
Chu Chu Rocket
Ecco the Dolphin
Power Stone 1 & 2
Street Fighter 3 (double impact or third strike)
Bass Fishing (it looks novel)
Blue Stinger
Metropolis Street Racer
Virtua Tennis
Crazy Taxi 2

Question: Has anyone used one of the arcade sticks? Do they make fighters extra awesome? Worth getting one?

I have an arcade stick, whilst playing Soul Calibur it was much better. My mate using the pad couldn't touch me when I was on that, we were pretty even when we both used pads.

The stick seemed quite good quality actually, I still have it at my parents house.

Soul Calibur is awesome, and Ikaruga is utterly fantastic. I had it on the Cube, one of my favourite games ever!

Just been browsing a certain auction site myself now, feeling pretty tempted by a Dreamcast!

Very impressive Dreamcast collection

I notice you have a lot of Japanese games, what are the fighting games like in Japanese? I assume their isn't much text or reading you need to do in them. :D

Just bought Guilty Gear X anyway so I guess I'll see myself :)

Also bought new:
Metropolis Street Racer
Chu Chu Rocket
Virtua Tennis
Cannon Spike
Outrigger

Hoping my Dreamcast turns up tomorrow now so I can try some of these out, it's awful having games and nothing to play them on.

EDIT:
WOO! It turned up today with my arcade stick.
Got it connected via RF as that's all it came with but even so it looks very impressive on my TV, I can't wait to see what it looks like through SCART or VGA when the cables turn up. :D

Gave Sonic Adventure a whirl first, the controls are tricky due to the camera and the speed you're travelling at a lot of the time but I like it.

Tried Street Fighter Alpha 3 with the arcade stick and although it will take a bit to get used to it, I might finally be able to pull of those awkward 360 moves that are so difficult with a pad. It looks a lot nicer than the PS version anyway, and appears to have a lot more modes.

Finally I stuck in Skies of Arcadia, ah the memories came flooding back. I never actually finished it on the Gamecube (got up to the underworld dig), it looks as good as I remember, maybe even better.

I love the rumble pak as well.

Overall I wish I'd picked up a Dreamcast earlier, it's great.

I'll go and have a blast at Crazy Taxi now. :D
