Dreamcast

Can you actually get the Dreamcast online on a modern DSL connection? I thought you had to use the built in dial up modem?
You can swap the standard built-in modem out for the Dreamcast Broadband Adapter, if you can still manage to get one.

Even then on the 33.6K dial-up modems that we unfortunately had for our Dreamcasts, online gaming was like 90% lag-free for me. Phantasy Star Onlline and Quake 3 Arena ran beautifully on the little white box.

Just dug this lot out of the loft, now what shall I play????? :D

If you are into selling you should check out how much some of these games are worth! The cheapest copy of Rez on Amazon is £50! Thinking of selling mine.

Bump...

Have been thinking a lot about Shenmue lately for some reason.
Got a JAP Shenmue off the bay tonight for fair cheap, hoping it has an English subs option, would be good to play Shenmue without the rubbish English dub.

Need to get Shenmue 2 some point soon also. Both demand a play through over Summer.

Unfortunately it doesn't and it would have been a huge technical limitation back then.

At least the second game for the Dreamcast was Japanese with English subtitles.

Damn, was worth a shot. Was only a fiver though, might as well keep it on the shelf.
I never played too much of the first one, got right into the second one though.
Would love the games to be re-made, shame it will never happen. :(

i picked one up off ebay a month ago, shortly after grabbed shenmue for £10 (my local gamestation has shenmue 2 for £20) and started getting into it until FFXIII came along.

i did my usual for ebay with anything of size and searched for local auctions and managed to save on the £15 shipping they were asking and collected it 5 miles up the road :)

its always been a console ive wanted but never had and i must admit the short time ive played it its been great, i just wish they would release a new crazy taxi game for the current gen. its also nice to see sonic can be decent in 3D, still not on par with the originals but not far off

I still remember going into town at midnight to get my DC when it was released, coming home with the console and 3 games (Powerstone, Ready 2 Rumble and something else that I can't remember). Owned Shenmue 1 and 2 but never finished either of them. If I can find a cheap Dreamcast somewhere I'll definitely look into getting one again as it really did have some awesome games on the system. I still want to get a Saturn again as well, purely for Fighters Megamix and Shining The Holy Ark, both amazing games.

yeh both shenmues were weird it seemed to take forever to get out of the starting areas but then once you did the game was pretty much over, i wouldnt be surprised if you were close to completing both but just didnt realise.

as for the saturn and fighters megamix!!! best fighting game ever - it was a masterpiece.

Funny this thread should resurface. I got Gunbird 2 for my DC on Saturday there.

Yeh, its was only 3 days ago I took out my DC from the loft to play some classic fighting games over the extended bank holiday weekend. Now trying to find Capcom Vs SNK 1 on the cheap.

Looks like you can get Saga for arounf £75 these days... Curse the temptation.
Burning Rangers is also another game I'd want to pick up.

This could get costly.
Has anyone here got Seaman for the DC?

This has reminded me I recently bought a DC (with Shenmue of course - and other games), played it for a bit and then put it back in my drawer. I may get it back out again tonight to have another go.

It still amazes me that they got Shenmue looking like it does with only 8MB of Vram.

Even today it still looks ok.
