Can anyone reccomend anything which has the following features but is FREE?

The feature where you can select the tags from the pop up list would be great - really saves a lot of time.

The file directory tree would be good too.

Not too bothered about a design view but if it has one that would be a bonus.

Tried jEdit and it's bloody awful.

Cheers.

I use DW at home. Want to get it at work but management won't pay for a license/and piracy is a no no. Hence the reason for a free alternative.

Try NVU.

Came across it a while back, it has a directory tree, along with other features. Such as tabbed pages, and various different views. You can also add extensions.

Also HTML-Kit, which has a lot of plugins as well.

There are loads of web editors that are open source, just search on google.

Ahh in that case I can't help :( I like DW, and haven't found anything that *feels* like it, and I tried a good few.
Same thing happened to me at my old work, only they had Visual Studio, but it felt soooo wrong.

What about a decent text editor with syntax highlighting?

Pspad and Scite are good.

Neither have a 'design view' but that's good, HTML should be controlled by the user, not by the software, as they have a tendency to output outdated and often invalid code.
