Drexel is a bad man

I don't want to sound like a noob but thats not really a drift, is it? Looks like he lost the back end coming off the roundabout and skillfully corrected it without issue - to me, a drift is where you deliberately induce oversteer and hold it.

So I don't really get the OMG DRIFT LOL stuff.

No, you are absolutely right Fox. Blame the guy who editied the vid, if I'm honest the 'DRIFT!!!' title on the vid did make me cringe a little when I first watched it :o

Problem with Google video is that it takes an age for Google to 'verify' it and post it (days sometimes). Still, if you don't mind waiting I'll upload it.

Anywhere that doesnt stream is good.
Somewhere where you can click pause and let it load then play it all at once :)

I just tried google and it's not working at the moment, I keep getting a 'connection to server reset' error when trying to upload it. I'll try to find somewhere else.

Good videos DreXeL, but I still stand by my previous point.

Ok, so it wasn't in a 30 zone, but there's absolutely no need to reach those kind of speeds around other traffic. What would have happened if a person, not part of the meet, had panicked when 20 or so jap cars surrounded/sped past and swerved into the path of another jap car.

Even the biggest of brakes won't stop the car that quickly.

Also, some of the jap cars seem to be swerving and changing lanes quite abruptly. Nothing wrong with that as they all (especially yours DreX) seemed very well planted to the tarmac. But all it takes is a slight mis-judgment for one car to go ploughing into the other. Kinda like the white Pulsar almost did.

I'm not having a go at you DreXeL but if I posted a video of me and a few mates having a hoon in those conditions, I just know I'd get flamed.

Not to end my post on a bad note... there are some very nice and very quick cars out there

agw, its hardly excessive driving, they are by no means pushing anything there and nothing stands out as being dangerous. Just a bit of what looks like great fun with some very capable cars.

Oh, I know, I'm not saying they did anything hugely stupid... but 130mph around other traffic. All it takes is one person to overstep the mark or a member of the public to get a bit spooked.

There was no other traffic at that point though? I didn't see him overtake anyone when accelerating to 130. He just pulled away from the lights, the road was clear so he kept accelerating by the look of things.

He sort of has a point, members of the public do utterly daft stuff at times when they perceive risk that isnt there.

Only the other day I went to overtake somebody on a long, straight section of moorland road and he immediatly dived for the side of the road

Would love to see that supra drag something like a gixxer thou, would be pretty close race tbh. Apart from that, ace vids!

Yer it'd be interesting to see. The Supra wouldn't stand a chance though.

in all honesty, there is a difference between you and your rover doing it and drex and his sorted rx7 doing it ;]

That's my whole point...

Even if I had a 250bhp Rover Turbo, sorted suspension and brakes and I had a race with a Celica on a dual carriageway... 0-130mph... I know for a fact I'd get flamed to death while the celica driver would get the whole "wow, nice one, you showed that Rover a thing or two", even if I'd have won :p

It's as though having a tuned jap car gives you invincibility powers against the OcUK flaming crew. :)

Have you posted a driving vid and had it scorched with napalm or are you imagining that if you did post one it would be flamed?

I think it's more to do with people's opions of you, rather than the type of car you drive.

That's in general and not aimed at anyone in particular.

Having a faster car doesn't make you any more or less likely to have an accident, if anything the hooning around would take place at greater speeds in the Rex than the Rover simply because its capable of accelerating faster.

The argument that people become safer in fast cars is a misnomer really because anyone who has driven a fast car for a period of time will tell you that they just start adjusting their driving to suit it - overtaking more cars in a line than they would normally (because they can), going around corners faster, etc.

Also to echo what others have said - the problem with this sort of driving in public is that its not so much how badly the individuals drive, its how everyone else around them will react to it. It doesn't take an awful lot to spook someone who is already not that confident on the road.

You think I'm stupid enough to post a video of me doing 130mph (yeah yeah, no 'my car is too slow' jokes :p) along a dual carriageway ;)

But no, I don't think I have ever posted a video of me driving. I just presume what would happen if I did.

Tdh1987, that's true. And judging from what people think of me... it wouldn't go down well.

Actually I'd consider it more reckless if you said that than DreXeL, simply because his car wouldn't take 45 mins and a tailwind to reach that sort of speed. :p

Read my above post again... I said a 250bhp Rover Turbo ;)

You guys probably think I take on every Scoob/Skyline I come across. Far from it.

If there's ever one behind me or next to me at traffic lights, I won't floor it from the lights. If they set off slow, so will I. I don't want to look like I'm some pathetic kid trying to race a Skyline in an old Rover.
