drill bit sized explained

Should you be doing DIY? :D

This, but then again you need to learn.

wrench = spanner

3/16ths and 1/2" is the diameter as said a thousand times.
Masonry means a drill for drilling into brick type stuff.
The small drill will be to make a pilot hole, I would have thought.

Depends what your drilling into but small one should be masonry as well, or at least a multi purpose one.

Length, drill sare pretty much standard size and should be long enough for most things. you can tell how long you need by the bolt/screw/wall plugs you are using. There are longer drills to drill all the way through standard walls.
are you sure it's 7mm that is an awfully short bolt, what is it being screwed into? some sort of wall plug?

it is going into a concrete anchor...

So drill as deep as about 5cm, and use a maximum drill bit width, that by eye, is about the same or thinner as the wall plug, the screw going into the wall plug will cause it to expand and grab the bricks with those barbs.

70mm not 7mm.
I would drill a pilot hole as well, the bigger drills will tend to skip about a lot without a pilot hole.

so do you think m8 coach screws would be more secure in my block wall
or

do you think the bolts and concrete anchors in my pic will be okay?

they "is" blocks

I aim to make it a tight fitting - prob 5-6 cm deep

Use what ever the kit says and always use what ever the kit says for drill size bit.

exactly - that's the problem kit says "not intended for cinder blocks or steel studs.." lol - that's why on the other thread it was mentioned to use m8 coach screws.
I'm yet to go to DIY store will do tomorrow

I used anchor bolts to fix my tv mount to the wall. I,m not a big fan of raw plugs and these are much easier to fit they are also rated to 100kg each and I used 6...:D:D

3/16th is an imperial measurement, basically a little under quarter of an inch diameter, the same way a 1/2" one is half an inch diameter.

I used 6 of these for artic mount and 42" plasma, into 50's red brick wall.

Secure enough for me to swing off it.

When drilling into masonary beware as you can sometime need a drill bit several sizes smaller as the drilling disturbs the edges of the hole and you end up with a larger hole than drilled. once all debris has been removed.
