I need to drill a large hole in two skin wall made of breeze blocks. The hole needs to be at 45 degrees. This is to fit my twin flue chimney through the wall (5inch plus twin skin), so it can be fitted to the external wall. I was thinking largest drill bit I can find, possibly 12mm dia. fitted to my usual home drill? Lots of holes and dust, with oversized large hole to accommodate the 45 degrees, then fill gaps later... gets the job done eventually. I was put off core drilling as I don't have all the kit. I really need to do this on my own ...am I doing the right thing? Will I need to treat myself to an SDS plus drill?

You can, but don't even attempt this without a good quality masonry bit.

Apologies, I meant more from a professional "yes, do that / no do not do that, OP" angle. Don't you do building, um, stuff?

Ah. In that case, hire a bloke. Starting a 45deg hole without a mount is difficult enough as it is, now add in the complexity of a double skinned wall and it's a nightmare. Someone with the right kit will have it done in an hour.

Its easy with proper hole saws with pilot bits. Start inside get the angle and hole started then go outside and finish the hole. Dont just do it from the inside you'll gash the outside wall.

The thing is that people need to realise OCUK has evolved well beyond a computer forum. It's the reason this "Lifestyle" section is likely more popular than any other.
100%, I was lured in as a 17 year old with my first summer jobs pay packet wanting to buy a l33t PC to pwn n00bs on counter strike in 2010.

I haven't browsed the hardware forums in probably over 10 years now. I suspect others are similar.

Actual answer....

Get your HETAS certified stove installer to dril the hole and fit the flu.
I have tried three local HETAS stove installers but they are not interested in the job. One of them did come to my house but didn't want to do it. This is why, after a year of trying to find someone I am left to do the job on my own.

Thanks, I may over cut the hole and fill afterwards to save the concern of the 45 degrees

If only I could find someone with the kit...they are either busy or don't want the job, so I'm completely stuck.
