It's been now nearly 10 years since I was convicted of this foolish act and under the rehabilitation act my record will be cleared of this conviction.

However, why is it that it take's another 1 year (11 years total) for it to come of my driving licence?

Anyone know?

To the OP, i agree, this ruling for all endorsements in this context is madness :/

As for why it takes another year - I used to know the answer, and I've completely forgotten it. I'll have to go digging and find out :)

yep.
it's eleven years from the date of conviction.
so the plan is you will have this on your license for ten years, and the minimum ban is one year therefore 11 years.

Calm down about the "baby killer" please! If you used your heads you'd learn to ignore such comments.

It takes 11 years to come off?! Haha, I'll have to let my mate know this, he thinks it's a standard 3 years :D

Ahh I see. I want to say that's cleaver but tbh it was simply enough, should have put more thought into that.

I apply to the police as of April so the main thing is that I'm able to do this without the worry that my licence was going to hold me back with my stupid teen ways of back in the day.

You sound like a great mate :D (assuming your mate has been banned for a similar offence)

and it only affects your car insurance for 5 years unless they specifically ask.
most just ask if you've had any convictions in the last 5 years and as you're not lying you can say no.they cannot up your quote when they get hold of your license and realise that say six years ago you received a DR10.

This is very true. I was happy when I found this out back when I was young because I belived it would haunt me for many years and would cost a lot.

Since then my insurance has dropped more due to an advanced cat B roadcraft course and gaing my cat C, C+E licences.

Would the Don who cleaned this thread up mind if I edited my first post? It doesn't make a whole heap of sense now as it is :)
