I've been out a countless number of times with "mates" to drink "socially", but i've always found it more relaxing, feeling the effects of alcohol when i'm alone. I have control over my environment, what music i listen to, and who i talk to, even if it IS just on msn. I'm at university, and I'd much rather enjoy a bottle of fine red wine, in a small bar, chatting with friends, than doing any of what you mentioned. Not everyone who drinks socially does what you've said lol...

Drinking a few beers is nice, regardless if alone or not, tastes nice and makes you feel less tired and gets you in a better mood.

Morba: Drinking isnt just social imo, just enjoying a particular taste has nothing to do with it, also just relaxing to get a few drinks after a week of work, why is having a few beers to feel less tired & better at the end of the week sad?

I never said that drinking is a social thing only.
I said that drinking alone is sad. that is my opinion, i think that drinking alone is sad. why is that so hard for people to understand that i have an opinion.

why are you lot so offended by this simple opinion? something to hide?

my god, there are some stupid people on ocuk. that was a comment to a single post in this thread, not a general comment to all lone drinkers.

you do not comprehend, you read, but you do not comprehend. look at the quotes from the posts and read back to the person that said they used to drink to get away from the world.

oh, again, i havent said that anyone is sad. i said that drinking alone is sad. the action is sad.
