What is your worst story of drinking at work. I went out few weeks ago for the facilities guy birthday at lunch time with people from my floor and the finance director said he would buy me a drink and then he vanished. next thing i know there is a drink in front of me. So without thinking i took a sip. Then i realized this was actually the guy from archives drink who was on the slot machine. So i bought him another drink. Then the finance director arrived with my other drink. So i had two pints, not that much. But then when i got back to the office i had forgot that we were having a meeting with all the fee earners because we were finishing the pilot for roll out of the windows 7. So i had to add a lot of input in to the meeting and the one fee earner was moaning the whole time, i was halfed tempted to tell him to stfu. But i managed to keep my **** together.

not a very good story, but any have any better ones?

Yeah I was down the pub on a Friday lunch, probably around 4 pints in when I get a call from the helpdesk about a big meeting going on and they couldn't get the projector to work. Literally had to run back, up to the third floor, then go in a room full of big wigs after 4 pints, fix some easy issue (easy when sober) whilst everyone was watching, then explain the situation to one of them without breathing too much or saying too many words.
Getting pi$$ed on a Friday was a common occurrence in this job, god knows how we got away with it for so long.

Our IT Director brings up a case of beer to my team most Friday's at about 3pm provided that we are not involved in any meetings until we finish at 6pm.

Drinking at work, these days it's only water or fruit juice. The art of proper drinking at work disappeared in the mists of time.

LOL you should join the AA at this rate you will be a premium member soon

For two pints? Calm down.

I drive for a living, so no booze for me. I have drank at previous jobs, be it parties, boozy lunches and so on. Interviewed someone once whist tipsy, but it would be quite hard for me to get drunk on a break.
As long as it doesn't effect your work then I don't see the problem.

Been for a curry and a few drinks this afternoon. Am now listening to youtube and doing not a lot. Its friday so its all good.

If we got to the pub on a Friday (or any day) i'd say between 1 and 2 pints was fairly standard. Usually go most Fridays.

Afternoon drags a bit usually but i wouldnt say i felt in a position where my work suffered

this is a 'I can't handle my booze post' in disguise :)

can't tell if serious, but are you really saying you had difficulty concetrating / focusing after 2 pints ? what was it 2 pints of..... vodka ?

Drinking, or just being hungover to the extent that it can be smelt is a no no at my work. We start at 0630/1830 and need to drive out to where we work, which just makes it even more of a no no.

We're all far to aware of what happens when people are stupid enough to mix alcohol and driving and don't do it

Years ago I used to work with a big team of 18-25 year olds at a very large accountants building. The boss was an alchy and we used to all go out religiously on a Friday afternoon and get as much as we could down in the 90 mins we'd get for lunch. The record was 7 pints iirc. Aaanyway, this led to a few incidents as you'd imagine.

I remember bouncing off the wall as I was walking down a corridoor on the way to pick up an outgoing courier. I opened the blokes office door and literally fell in a heap through the door onto the floor. I made like I'd tripped up and picked the package up off the printer desk behind him. As I turned to leave, I let off a fart like a pistol shot and ran out of the office.
To get from our main room to the goods lift we'd go past the emergency exit from the indoor pool. Half a dozen blokes ended up in it over the years. Various lads got caught sleeping it off in our little offices on each floor of the building, one vommed on someone in a lift etc. One lad interrorgated one of the Directors PA's as to whether she was a lesbian as he'd only ever seen her go to lunch with one other woman. He was going on and on while I was cringing at the desk behind him. Lots of stuff like that went on. Pretty shameful really looking back.

It effects people differently though.

I can go and have 5 pints at a party and feel absolutely normal.
Other times I can be at home, have a single can and that's my evening of Trackmania Canyon ruined. I have to play minecraft instead.

On topic, I wish I could drink at work :/

I stay away from the drink during working hours but afterwards, man I have been in some sticky situations.

Trying to fly kick the punch bag machine in the bowling alley, missing epicly and faceplanting on the ground, in front of my boss and a whole load of other people.

Staggering around in Burger King while waiting for food then tripping up and throwing it everywhere.

Licking the side of a tram window while people are on the inside looking out.

These are all drunken foolery in front oy work colleagues/bosses.

I also snogged an engaged woman at the work xmas party but I do hold defence on that she jumped me and as I was drunk I didn't care.
