Drinking blackouts

a) in th morning after drinking

That's not what the shakes are dumbass. The shakes are when your nervous system si that ****ed up it's like that all the time you don't have a blood alcohol level.

b) why would you drink, if your not planning to get drunk, but every week, not daily!

CAuse a nice pint at lunch is nice, getting plastered before seeing your boss aint.

you can only trust one person if youve seen them absolutely drunk. people who dont drink cannot be trusted

Yet more drivel from platinum...

your a steaming pile of bs

I don't drink (I have done in the past, i.e. when I was at Uni) - does that mean I've now become untrustworthy?

Sounds like BS to me! ;)

i get the shakes and occasioanlly periods of blackout like the last 30 min of club cna't remember and getting home. however not a alchoholic infact not drank since nye now. try not drinking for a week if your fine then you've not really got a problem.

I drink a lot when I go out. It's not uncommon for me to be drinking solidly from 6pm to 6am. I've had nights when I've spent over £100 on the drink alone. I've done as much as 25 pints in one night, quite regularly. I've only once ever had problems remembering the night before, and that night was a real bender compared to what I described above. Even on that occasion I could remember everything within a few hours.

I am going to tell you, you need to booze off for a bit.

Is there a difference between a drinking black out and just not remembering things?

I've never blacked out and woken up somewhere I shouldnt, fully clothed, covered in puke etc but I've woken up and not remembered the end of the evening or the taxi home. I'd say that happens most nights out where a lot of drink is consumed.

I wouldnt say I have a drink problem either as I never drink to get drunk I dont drink every day.

Alcohol has so many grey areas as it effects everyone differently but if you think you have a problem you should fill in one of the online drink calculators.

Tefal, alcoholism is not that easy to categorise. You don't have to be drinking 24/7 to be an alcoholic. Some alcoholics only drink once a month on a night out.. but are still alcoholic.

that doesn't make any sense, as a alcoholic has a physical dependency on alcohol due to it;s effects on the nervous system (and others things). If they don;t have a physical need then they arn't physically addicted and as such not an alcoholic.

A true alcoholic would be risking death by going cold turkey for a month.

Nope. Alcoholism can be psychological just as much, and sometimes instead of a physical dependency. Those who think you can only have a good time if drinking might be alcoholic.

For example, my housemate/landlord. He is aggressive/hostile to those of us who don't want to get hammered on a night out. He goes to extraordinary lengths to find an establishment to get served at (e.g. at 5am after the normal places are closed) and is constantly pushing the rest of us to keep up and buy rounds, despite us telling him to leave it out.

He only drinks once, maybe twice a month. But once he gets a taste for it, he won't stop until it's day break.

You;re hardly a psychological addict if you only do it once a month :/

But sure go for it find a medical referance which refers to a once a month drinker as an alcoholic.

cant imagine what i would be like with 25pints haha insane amount , are you really overweight or just a heavy drinker?

Bit of both. I'm about 1.5-2stone overweight, and a used to be a very heavy drinker. I sought medical advice because I was worried I was alcoholic, but the doc and shrink agreed I wasn't, I just had that sort of social life. I don't drink that much anymore. I had 7 alcoholic drinks on NYE, one glass of scotch on Christmas day, and nothing since. :)

Tefal, do your own research. I'm not going to walk you through this one. If you actually think for once, you'll see exactly what I am talking about. I've had medical advice on alcoholism (as I have just explained above) and these questions were asked, and answered then.

what kind of beer were you drinking? we called starpronanananenenen (sp) looney juice as that also caused blackouts if not careful.

Staropramen? It seems a bit of a waste if you're just drinking that fine drink just to get drunk, I'm sure after the first four or five pints you could change to Carling and probably wouldn't notice the difference plus it would be cheaper.

Blacking out isn't a particularly good thing to happen, your body is telling you that you've gone over and above what you can handle. It's happened to me a few times and thankfully I've not done anything especially terrible in those times (partially ruined a shoulder, been sick and other sundry things) but I do sometimes have problems remembering everything that has happened during a night - my reasoning for that is that many nights don't have anything noteworthy so they start to blend into one.

An alcoholic can be someone who never drinks. A friend of mine is an alcoholic and she hasn't drunk for ten years.

So she has drunk obviously, to become an alchololic. It's not as though she never drank to become one...

eat more before going out & whilst out, try another beer...

Ahh yeah forgot to mention this, lack of food is also a primar cause. Eat well before drinking.
