I'm not sure if this is what the OP's on about, but I used to occasionally get a sort of dull ache at the back of my jaw when drinking alcohol (generally it only happened for the first drink of the night).
This doesn't happen any more to me though.

Anyone ever noticed if they down a stiff drink they get a kinda paralyzing feeling in their esophagus/throat/chest?

Do I need to see a doctor?

If the pain is new to you, it could be the start of Gastritis. I'd go and see a doctor.
