Now am not an alcoholic, but I seem to be drinking more than I used to or what seems normal.

Last week, I was drunk Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and had a few on Saturday. Even last night I had a drink. Now, I am not drinking on my own or anything like that. But I can't help the social side to drinking, if anyone is out I want to be there I love the whole going out and meeting new people thing.

But thinking about it, I can't remember the last weekend I was sobor. This is the norm with me and my mates, Friday hits and its straight to the pub.

Does everyone 18-25ish, do the same or do I seriously need to take a break? (It feels like I should)

I don't think there's been a night in almost the last 2 weeks that I haven't had at least one beer.

However, I am on 'holiday' and did visit the UK's largest beer shop last Monday...

If yours is a weekly thing, then try to cut down TBH. But if it's a once in a while thing, don't worry so much. You could try to intersperse your beer drinking with a soft drink every other pint to lighten the punishment on your liver, or make yourself the designated driver on purpose once in a while.

My normal intake is one or two beers during the week, half a bottle of wine on a Friday, then a few beers on Saturday with mates (but only when I'm not the designated driver).

same situation worked out spent 8grand on booze in 10 months, averageing like 800 a month or 200 a week. Every weekend is a forgotten weekend as usually to drunk to rememeber it, fitness has been rising but have failed certain things which i'm sure i would have passed had not drank so much. Definatly going to cut back in the next few months but its hard as like you say the social side of drinking is very hard to ignore. Also strange how alchol tollerance has brought me from a normal drinker to being one of the heaviest drinkers that i go out with in this time and i really don't enjoy that role as for one it is costly and secondly spend most of my time at the bar rather than the dancefloor in clubs.

I wouldn't say you're an alcoholic. I wouldn't say it's good for your health to drink that much though. :P

I wish that I was in your position, that I could afford going out drinking 4-5 times a week with friends.

Same. Can't wait to be back in Bournemouth.

I only drink on Friday and Saturday as a rule, though I do go massively into excess when I do.

I just like being drunk, though I can easily say no on any other day.

If you feel like a break just take a weekend or two off - your pals will forgive you eventually. After travelling Europe for a month and drinking every day (cheaper to drink beer than soft drinks) I had a couple of well deserved weeks off the drink.

That's a lot of booze!

I'm 25. I never go out really but enjoy the odd drink when watching a film with someone. I got drunk for the first time in a very long time on Saturday and woke up in a police cell with a killer hang over with no memory of what happened. A regretable experience and I won't be getting drunk any time soon, or even maybe drinking for that matter.

IF you can handle it and you are enjoying it with friends I don't see it as an issue, as long as you don't rely on being drunk to have a good time. Maybe try going half way and see how you feel about that. Can only help the wallet and you health, maybe you'll feel a positive difference.

i think many people could be considered alcoholics by the standards of the previous generation.

I've noticed myself in the people present in my own age group, a lack of direction and opportunity (perceived or otherwise) leads them to drink as a means of avoiding or suspending reality. I personally don't touch alcohol although I do believe people can have a drink or two (I stress the 'drink or two' bit) occasionally and not be adversely affected but far too many people forget 'all things in moderation' when they go out for a 'good night'.

Probably a bad time to mention this, but Tesco are doing a BH deal on slabs of lager for a tenner.

Thought I'd just leave this here.

I drink everyweekend Friday and Saturday, generally coz i'm going out with mates.

I will only drink during the week if i'm going to a gig meal or party ect. I do craze that friday afterwork pint tho :)
