A bit of light hearted look at smoking...

Ok if you spend lets say £1000 on smoking a year

Then give up.... well it's known that smoking decreases your apetite(SP?)

so in fairness your food bill may drop may £20 per week?
SAVING = £1040

Also lets say that smoking helps you concentrate, or helps stress relief, then maybe so get the promotion or job you want, lets say that a 5% pay increase per year

Next because you smoke you don't spend as much on swimming etc... so can't exercise as much, so you save money on that!

Thus smoking saves us money :p

people get addicted to smoking, it's not as if it's easy to stop just like that - it's a habit and the mind has been altered due to it and the nicotine, you'd need to spend quite a lot on nicorette patches and gum and maybe even treatment to help you stop for a high daily smoker, it's tough but it'd be very rewarding if more smokers did it. :)

The saving is £40.

Smoking only relieves the stress you get from not having nicotine in your body.

Smoking causes death.

Smoking stinks.

No-one likes smokers.

Smoking puts you in the same crowd as chavs.

Smoking makes you ugly.

Smoking is for child molesters.

You have to sit in a segregated section in restaurants, little do you know, the pensioners in the non-smoking section are pointing and laughing at you.

Sounds like you're struggling to come up with valid reasons for having a useless, expensive and digusting habit.

/run awah!

smoke can take years off your life.

Your health becomes poor compared to not smoking.

You Smell terrible.

You get yellow fingers.

You add to the load in hospitals from something stupid as smoking (drinking is the same if not worse).

Can cause stress/irrateable from wanting to have a fag but can't for what ever reason.

You pay £100's or £1000's per year for these the above effects...

IMO - No, I started smoking during my finals and it did me feel less stressed, and I found it much easier to study/

Smoking causes death.

All chavs smoke, this has been proven by some person somewhere. Chavs and smokers are linked together by this common vice.

One day your'll be a turely great scientist ;)

Damn right ,

1 kebab = £4.50
5 x instant melas = £25 (or what ever you call those tescos taste the difference things!)
5 x random ites = £10

SMOKERS £10 on noodles and snackes = FINE

SMOKERS FOR THE WIN

I know the non-smokers in my office drop a few bucks each day on junk-food just for something to do. It may balance out to the amount I spend on smokes, or it may be more. Either way, I don't think there's much cost difference per day between smokers and non-smokers. It seems the non-smokers take much longer breaks during the day than smokers as well. Whereas I'm out for 7-8 mins every couple hours, they disappear for 1/2 hour or better.

Non-smokers = slackers.

It would be interesting to chart, on a day-by-day basis, how much is spent by each party on their habits.

edit: anyone on these forums care to keep track?

I smoke right around 1 pack of 20 cigarettes a day, which comes to approx £2.11. I never buy candy bars, crisps, popcorn, or other snacks. I eat 2 full meals per day, with a light breakfast.

I gave up smoking and certainly didn't eat any more as a result.

it might stave off hunger to a degree, but it just takes a bit of willpower to not give into it.

I saved a fortune giving up ciggy's. Also, I eat noodles by the bucketload, always have :D

(8p from Asda! wooo!)
