Anyone here enjoy a few beers with their dad?

Most of my mates don't really drink with there dad's but I must admit I do like a beer with the ol chap now and again.

I love a drink with me old man - only happens about twice a year though since he moved to Spain :(

Last time he was over was for the first England game of the WC - was great though. I highly recomment people go out with their Dads tbh. I used to encourage my ex to whenever possible. Great fun. :D

I used to drink with mine quite often as he'd come pick me up form the pub where I worked and in return I'd buy him a pint. Quite often I'll share some with my parents when we're watching the tv too.

My Dad lives a little too far away just to pop to the pub with (not that far, about 12 miles), but I really like having a few beers / whiskey's with him, he's one of my best mates.

Dads do indeed rock. I thoroughly enjoy and am glad that I can frequently have a few beers at the local pub with Dad.

It’s even more important as five years ago we didn't speak a word to each other.

I'm probably prying a little too much & going OT, but how come? It always intriques me when people don't get on with their dads, I just can't imagine it at all.

Well we were both was going through a bad time and we had never really got on. Many many reasons some do so with a family business going down the swanny. It wasn't nice, divorce's were imminent but, we stuck together and saw it through as a family.

Ever since I went to uni I've really appreciated what a Dad really means to me and want to enjoy time with him before I move away.

Cool, I'm glad you sorted it out.

I suppose I take having a stable family unit for granted, my mum & dad come as a package & always will as far as I'm concerned.

My mum can be a pain in the arse but my dad is just an older version of me, who wants to have the same things as I do, but has the ability to get them more quickly. *******!!!!! :D

Same here. It took some growing up on my part to realise just how much my dad (and my mam) have done & will do for me over the years.

And we're all geordies so drinking is hereditary :)

Don't really go to the pub that much with my Dad (Doesn't help that I live 200 miles away!) but when I go back home I always find that we have a good Father and son chat over a few cans watching the fish in his fishpond!

I'm 26 now but the last time I went back to my parents my Dad told me how proud he was of me and my sister and how we never asked for anything from them. It really made me really well up inside and I said how grateful we both were of them being great parents!

Most of the time I still feel like a kid, but when I can have a conversation like that with my Dad it makes me realise that I'm an adult now and that I appreciate all that my parents have done for me.

</grown up mode> :p

My dad doesn't drink but I've had a good ol' chat with him over a cup of coffee in a decent coffee shop when we're out and about. We share the same taste in ps2 games and he steals all my music collection for his car so we can have a good crack on.

I dare say a few pints in the local wouldn't kill him like, may suggest it sometime :)

Only time I really had a few beers in a pub with the Old Man was in Fuengirola during a golfing trip over New Year 1985/86 with him and my brother. Was probably one of the few times I saw him gassed :p

The other time was Christmas 1995 when we sank the bottle of Armagnac my Old Dear had given him for Christmas :p He died six weeks later :( but was a great memory that night :) I kept on saying he'd had enough but my bird at them time was encouraging him!

I've got drunk with my Dad 100's of times over the years and my Dad does indeed rock. I started playing in bands with him in 1970 so we've shared quite a few experiences over the decades.
My youngest daughter comes out with me quite often and we often go to see rock/metal bands. She thinks its quite cool to see her old man headbanging down the front. Its great because the older you get the harder you get and kids just bounce off me :D

I used to :(.

It's ironic considering he was an alcoholic but some of the closest moments with my father were shared over a beer or 5.
