Drive 0 not found

I am not a computer person so have no idea what this means. Hope someone can please help.

Basically I turn my computer on and it says Drive 0 not found. Press F1 to Continue and F2 for Setup.

I tried to boot it from the CD but it just resets and go's back to that error message when I do.

I don't need the computer I just need the files on there.

Can anyone help please?

Drive 0 is lost

EDIT- that wasnt very helpfull...

I've had this at times when mobo settings are being iffy.
What does pressing F1 give you? windows?

Try connecting the sata drive to a different port

Press F2 to get into the BIOS and check that the drive exists there. If it does then check the boot order to ensure it's listed.
